Factor 55 tree saver strap, 2.43 m long and 7.62 cm wide. Polyester webbing with a Cordura abrasion guard on the eyes and seams, rated 9,300 lbs (4.2 t) straight and 18,600 lbs (8.4 t) in a basket. The wide webbing spreads the load and does not cut into the bark. Made in the USA.

Factor 55 Tree Saver Strap 8'x3" (00077)

Running a winch line straight around a trunk ends one of two ways: a ruined tree or a chafed rope. A tree saver stops both — the wide webbing wraps the trunk and the line connects to the strap eyes instead of the bark.

Key features

  • 7.62 cm (3") wide webbing — the wider the strap, the lower the pressure on the bark and the smaller the risk of girdling the tree
  • Polyester webbing with low stretch — this is an anchoring strap, not a snatch strap; it does not store energy like a kinetic rope
  • Cordura abrasion guard on the eyes and webbing seams — the places that wear through first
  • Rigging method and working load limits printed on the sewn-in label

Use

Wrap the strap around the trunk and connect a shackle and the winch line — or a snatch block for a redirect — to its eyes. The three ratings are not marketing: they are three rigging configurations, the highest being a basket and the lowest a choker, so check the label before you pull.

FAQ

Can I snatch with this strap?

No. It is a low-stretch polyester anchoring strap. Snatching calls for a kinetic rope that is designed to stretch and release energy.

Why three different ratings?

Because the working load limit depends on the rigging: 9,300 lbs straight, 7,440 lbs in a choker and 18,600 lbs in a basket.

What connects to the eyes?

A shackle — bow or soft — and through it the winch line or a snatch block. A winch hook should not be hooked straight onto the strap eye.
