A Patrol pickup rarely runs empty, and a leaf-sprung rear end feeds loads into the shock mounts that no passenger car ever sees. The rubber hardens and splits, and then every kerb gives you a dull thud from the back.

Fitting and notes
Unload the axle and release the damper at both ends. The rubber parts go back in the factory order, and the nyloc nut is tightened until the washer seats fully on the bush.
