EFS polyurethane shock absorber bush made from 80 Duro elastomer, measuring 38 x 33/29 x 15 mm. The manufacturer assigns it to shocks 36-5578 (front — Ford Ranger, Courier, Mazda BT-50, B2500 and B2600) and 36-3297 (Jeep Grand Cherokee WH/WK1 and Commander XK/XH). Less play and better damping than rubber.

EFS shock absorber bush, 80 Duro polyurethane — 38 x 33/29 x 15 mm

A Ranger, a BT-50 or a Grand Cherokee starts talking back over every speed hump after a few years. Before you blame the shock absorber, check the bush in its mount — a flattened elastomer bush produces exactly the same knock at a fraction of the price.

This bush is made from 80 Duro polyurethane and EFS assigns it to two specific shock absorbers: the front 36-5578 (Ford Ranger, Ford Courier/Rider, Mazda BT-50, B2500 and B2600) and the 36-3297 (Jeep Grand Cherokee WH/WK1 and Commander XK/XH). It is not a generic bush from a bin — you choose it by the shock absorber number.

Material
80 Duro polyurethane
Dimensions
38 x 33/29 x 15 mm
Shock absorbers
36-5578 and 36-3297

Key benefits

  • 80 Duro polyurethane instead of rubber — less play in the mount and better vibration damping, so a quieter front end.
  • Tight fit on the pin — it limits the clearance between bush and shock absorber pin.
  • Resists oil, dirt, UV and moisture — this bush works right above the wheel, in the worst conditions under the vehicle.
  • Resists permanent deformation — polyurethane keeps its rebound properties longer than a rubber equivalent.
  • Clearly tied to shock absorbers 36-5578 and 36-3297 — selection by part number, not by shape.

Vehicles covered by this application

Front shock absorber 36-5578: Ford Ranger PJ-PK (2006-2011), Ford Ranger (1999-2006), Ford Courier / Rider (1987-2006), Mazda BT-50 (2006-2011), Mazda B2500 and B2600 4WD (1987-2006), Mazda Bravo B2500 and B2600 2WD (1987-1999).

Shock absorber 36-3297: Jeep Grand Cherokee WH / WK1 (from 2005), Jeep Commander XK / XH (from 2006).

This one is for owners of Rangers, Couriers, BT-50s and older Mazda pick-ups, plus Grand Cherokees and Commanders, running EFS shocks and servicing the front suspension. You replace it while you are there, because the mount has to come apart anyway.

Fitting and notes

The bush goes into the shock absorber eye. What matters is your shock absorber part number — 36-5578 or 36-3297. Bushes are replaced in pairs per mount, so count the pieces for a full set. If you are not sure which mount your job involves, send us the shock number and a description of the location and we will check it in the workshop before dispatch.

Why buy this

  • A specific application list from the manufacturer instead of picking a bush by eye.
  • Polyurethane holds its dimensions longer than rubber, so the mount stays tight for longer.
  • The cheapest item in the whole repair, responsible for a large share of the result.

Check the number stamped on your shock absorber and order a full set of bushes with the service — stripping the mount twice costs more than the part itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which shock absorbers does this bush fit?

The front EFS shock absorber 36-5578 and the shock absorber 36-3297.

Which vehicles does that cover?

For shock 36-5578: Ford Ranger PJ-PK (2006-2011), Ford Ranger (1999-2006), Ford Courier / Rider (1987-2006), Mazda BT-50 (2006-2011), Mazda B2500 and B2600 4WD (1987-2006) and Mazda Bravo B2500 and B2600 2WD (1987-1999). For 36-3297: Jeep Grand Cherokee WH / WK1 (from 2005) and Jeep Commander XK / XH (from 2006).

What are the dimensions?

38 x 33/29 x 15 mm — 38 mm length, 33/29 mm diameter and a 15 mm inner bore.

Why polyurethane instead of rubber?

The manufacturer cites less play, better vibration damping and longer shock service life, plus resistance to deformation, oils, abrasion, UV and moisture.

How many pieces do I need?

Shock bushes normally work in pairs per mount — confirm the count when you strip the mount.
