Polyurethane upper (pin-type) bush for EFS 36-5533 and 36-5578 shock absorbers, sized 18/14 x 34 x 10 mm. Made from 80 Duro elastomer, it keeps less play than rubber, damps vibration better and holds its shape far longer under hard off-road use.

EFS Polyurethane Shock Absorber Bush, Upper Pin Mount 18/14 x 34 x 10 mm

A knock over a kerb, a dull thud on corrugations, a shock that develops noticeable play after one season in the dirt — the culprit is rarely the damper itself. It is usually the tired bush sitting on its mounting pin, one of the cheapest parts in the whole suspension.

This one is moulded from 80 Duro polyurethane and fitted in the upper, pin-type position. It holds its dimensions longer than rubber, shrugs off oil and does not crumble in the sun, which on a four-wheel drive translates into fewer surprises at the next suspension check.

Material
80 Duro polyurethane
Dimensions
18/14 x 34 x 10 mm
Position
Upper, pin mount

Key benefits

  • 80 Duro polyurethane instead of rubber means less play between bush and pin, so the shock works along its axis rather than rocking in the mount.
  • Resistant to oil, abrasion, moisture and UV — exactly the mix that destroys rubber bushes under a vehicle.
  • Works as a damping bush, cutting the vibration and noise passed from the suspension into the body.
  • Made specifically for EFS 4x4 shock absorbers, so the fit is known in advance rather than guessed.

Technical data

  • Type: polyurethane shock absorber bush, upper pin mount
  • Material: polyurethane, 80 Duro elastomer
  • Dimensions (length x outer diameter x inner bore): 18/14 x 34 x 10 mm
  • Fits EFS shock absorbers 36-5533 and 36-5578 (upper position)
  • Manufacturer: EFS 4x4, Australia
  • Part number: PB2244

Buy it when you fit 36-5533 or 36-5578 shocks, or when the old bush has flattened out and a knock has appeared over bumps. EFS lists it for the Hyundai Terracan 2001-2006, Ford Ranger PJ-PK 2006-2011 and Ranger 1999-2006, Ford Courier/Rider 1987-2006, Mazda BT-50 2006-2011, Mazda B2500 and B2600 4WD 1987-2006, and Mazda Bravo B2500 and B2600 2WD 1987-1999.

Fitting notes

The bush presses onto the mounting pin from above, with the shock removed or loosened. If you are replacing dampers, replace the whole set of bushes in that mount — mixing old rubber with a new polyurethane bush undoes half the benefit. Our workshop can assemble the suspension for you if you would rather not guess how many pieces each mount takes.

Why it is worth it

  • The cheapest way to make a new shock absorber work the way it was designed to.
  • Polyurethane outlasts several sets of rubber bushes in the same conditions.
  • A known dimension and a defined fitment list instead of trial and error.

Add a set to your shock absorber order — fitting them at the same time takes a minute, doing it later means pulling the suspension apart again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which shocks does this bush fit?

EFS 36-5533 and 36-5578 shock absorbers, in the upper pin-mount position.

What are the exact dimensions?

18/14 x 34 x 10 mm, given as length x outer diameter x inner bore.

Why polyurethane instead of rubber?

It is an 80 Duro elastomer resistant to deformation, oil, abrasion and weather. In practice that means less play on the pin, better vibration damping and a longer service life than a rubber equivalent.

Which vehicles is it listed for?

Hyundai Terracan 2001-2006, Ford Ranger PJ-PK 2006-2011, Ford Ranger 1999-2006, Ford Courier/Rider 1987-2006, Mazda BT-50 2006-2011, Mazda B2500 and B2600 4WD 1987-2006, and Mazda Bravo B2500 and B2600 2WD 1987-1999.

How many do I need?

This is a single bush. Match the quantity to the number of shocks you are fitting and to how many bushes each mount takes on your vehicle.
