EFS MRP 2.5 Rear Shock Absorber, 50 mm Lift - Ranger Next Gen, Amarok

The Next Gen Ranger and the new Amarok leave the dealer tuned for tarmac comfort. Add a bull bar, a winch, drawers and a long-range tank, and the rear axle starts to lose the plot - first on corrugations, then on every serious step.

This MRP 2.5 rear damper answers exactly that. It lifts the rear by 50 mm, runs a finned remote reservoir and offers 60 damping positions, so a fully loaded ute still behaves the way you want it to.

Application
Ford Ranger Next Gen and VW Amarok NF
Lift
2" / 50 mm
Design
Monotube with remote reservoir

Key benefits

  • 24 clicks of compression adjustment - one knob changes the character of the suspension with nothing to dismantle.
  • 36 clicks of rebound adjustment - you decide how fast the wheel returns to the ground after a hit.
  • Remote reservoir with a finned heat sink - more oil and real cooling, so damping fade on long gravel is much reduced.
  • Monotube design allows a larger diameter shaft, which means steadier behaviour under load.
  • Fully strippable and serviceable - a hard season ends in a rebuild, not a bin.
  • Rubber shaft boot and bonded rubber bushes included - the two parts that decide how long a damper survives off-road.

What is in the box

  • MRP 2.5 damper with a hose-mounted remote reservoir
  • rubber shaft boot
  • steel reservoir bracket
  • hose clamps and mounting hardware
  • instruction sheet with the registration QR code

The listing covers one damper. A complete axle needs two.

Who it is for

For Rangers and Amaroks built for touring or work: canopy on the tray, heavier bar work and a permanently loaded rear axle. It also suits a ute that does tarmac during the week and gravel at the weekend - that is exactly what the adjusters are for.

Fitment notes

The manufacturer lists this part number for the PY Next Gen Ranger RA from 06/2022 excluding the Wildtrak X and Tremor variants, and for the Amarok NF-T1 from 06/2023. If you run one of the excluded Ranger versions, message us before ordering and we will find the right part.

Fitting and tuning

Damping is set with two knobs: 24 clicks of compression and 36 clicks of rebound. Clockwise (marked H+) adds damping, counter-clockwise (S-) takes it away. The manufacturer gives starting points: 0-10 compression and 0-12 rebound clicks for town use, 10-20 and 12-22 off-road, 15-24 and 22-36 for extreme driving. Treat them as a baseline - load and driving style will move them.

The reservoir mounts on the supplied bracket and clamps, somewhere protected from impacts. Our workshop can handle selection, fitting and the later rebuild.

Warranty and registration

The distributor states a 2-year or 100,000 km warranty which can be extended to 6 years in total. The condition: register the damper with the manufacturer after purchase (QR code in the instruction sheet), then carry out and report a service before 2 years / 100,000 km, and a second one before the next 2 years / 50,000 km. Each reported service adds another 2 years and 50,000 km of cover.

Why it is worth it

  • A damper you can tune to the load you actually carry, instead of a factory compromise.
  • A finned remote reservoir exactly where a standard damper fades.
  • Rebuildable construction and cover extendable to 6 years through servicing.
