Heavy-duty front right EFS MRP 2.5 shock absorber with mono-tube construction and a remote reservoir with heat sink. It delivers 40 or 70 mm of lift on the Toyota Hilux Revo and 40 mm on the Fortuner, with 24 compression and 36 rebound settings and a 50-110 kg additional load rating.

EFS MRP 2.5 Front Right Shock, +40-70 mm — Toyota Hilux Revo, Fortuner

Add a bar and a winch and a Hilux drives differently: the nose sits down and the standard damper bottoms out on every serious bump. Rather than papering over that with springs, start with the component that actually controls wheel movement.

This is the right-hand MRP 2.5: mono-tube construction with a remote reservoir and heat sink, 24 compression and 36 rebound settings, and 40 to 70 mm of lift depending on the model.

Key benefits

  • A choice of height: 40 mm for a truck on standard tyres, 70 mm for a more serious Hilux Revo build.
  • Designed around an additional 50-110 kg — this is not a shock for an empty vehicle.
  • 24 compression settings change the character of the front axle in minutes, right before you head off-road.
  • 36 rebound settings tidy up wheel movement after a hit, which translates directly into grip.
  • The additional reservoir with heat sink pulls heat out of the oil; without it, damping fades on a long stage.
  • The thicker shaft made possible by the mono-tube layout gives stiffer, more predictable behaviour.
  • Fully serviceable — bought once and rebuilt, rather than replaced every couple of seasons.

The shock covers the Hilux Revo from August 2015 and the Fortuner from 2004. It gives most on vehicles that regularly travel loaded and on rough surfaces — exactly where the factory setup runs out of ideas after the first hour.

Fitting notes

Ride height changes call for an alignment afterwards. Work through the clicker settings gradually and note what you change, otherwise it is hard to find your way back to a good baseline. We can fit and pre-set it in our workshop.

Warranty and registration

The distributor gives 2 years or 100,000 km as standard. Extending that to 6 years is possible but conditional: register the shock with the manufacturer after purchase (QR code in the box), then have it serviced and reported before 2 years and 100,000 km, which adds another 2 years and 50,000 km. A second service handled the same way adds a third such period.

Why it is worth it

  • Control over suspension character without swapping parts.
  • Stable oil temperature means repeatable damping for the whole route, not just the first few kilometres.
  • A rebuildable design with warranty extendable to 6 years.

If you start with one side, plan the other into the same order — an asymmetric axle can surprise you off-road.

Frequently asked questions

How does it differ from 25-0004-L?

Only in which side it fits. 25-0004-R is the right-hand unit, 25-0004-L the left; the page lists identical specifications otherwise.

What lift will I get?

40 mm or 70 mm on the Toyota Hilux Revo (from 08.2015) and 40 mm on the Toyota Fortuner (from 2004).

Can it be adjusted on the vehicle?

Yes, compression and rebound are set with dials — the shock does not have to come off.

Is it meant for a loaded vehicle?

Yes. The page states an intended additional load of 50-110 kg, which is the scenario of a truck with front-axle hardware fitted.

What is the warranty?

2 years or 100,000 km as standard. Registering the shock with the manufacturer and completing two reported services extends it to 6 years in total.
