A rectangular PTFE slide pad from EFS, 43.3 x 33.5 mm, with a 16.8 x 9 mm oval locating boss. Fitted between the leaves it cuts friction and noise in the pack and slows wear on the leaf surfaces.

EFS Leaf Spring Slide Pad, PTFE, Rectangular 43.3 x 33.5 mm

A leaf pack without slide pads works steel on steel. You hear it every time you drop off a kerb and you see it a few seasons later on the worn leaf faces — and the pack starts to move in steps instead of smoothly.

This rectangular PTFE pad from EFS separates the leaves with a very low-friction polymer. The oval boss locates it in the hole in the leaf, so it stays exactly where it is meant to work.

Key benefits

  • PTFE has a very low friction coefficient, so the leaves slide instead of grinding against each other.
  • A quieter pack: less creaking and knocking as the suspension works over rough ground.
  • Less friction means slower wear on the leaf surfaces and a longer life for the whole pack.
  • Smoother leaf movement makes the truck more predictable when loaded.
  • Fits EFS leaf packs across lift heights (30-50 mm, +2") and load ratings.

Technical data

  • Type: inter-leaf slide pad
  • Shape: rectangular
  • Material: PTFE
  • Length: 43.3 mm
  • Width: 33.5 mm
  • Locating boss: 16.8 x 9 mm outside dimensions
  • Fitted: between the leaves of the pack
  • Manufacturer: EFS 4x4
  • Part number: P90074
  • EAN: 5905247906267

This is for a leaf-sprung 4x4 whose rear works hard: constant load, a canopy, or regular time off the bitumen. EFS states the pads suit its own packs made from Japanese SUP9/SUP9A steel, with tapered leaf ends and clamps that stop the pack from splaying.

Fitting notes

The pads sit between the leaves, where the leaves rub against each other. They are a service item, best replaced while the pack is apart rather than as a standalone job. If you are rebuilding a pack or fitting a new EFS set, order enough pads to cover every contact point in one go.

Why it is worth it

  • Pad and boss dimensions are published, so you can check the fit before you order.
  • PTFE rather than an unspecified plastic: low friction and wear resistance.
  • A part that extends leaf life for a fraction of the price of a new pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are its dimensions?

The pad measures 43.3 x 33.5 mm and its oval boss is 16.8 x 9 mm on the outside.

Where does it go?

Between the leaves of the pack, at the contact points. The oval boss locates it in the hole in the leaf.

What is it made of?

PTFE, commonly known as Teflon — a polymer with a very low friction coefficient.

Which leaf packs does it suit?

The distributor lists compatibility with EFS packs in SUP9/SUP9A steel, across 30-50 mm (+2") lifts and load ratings.

How is it different from the round P90052?

Pad and boss shape. P90074 is rectangular with an oval boss; P90052 is round, 39 mm across, with a 12.5 mm round boss.
