With ICON coilovers fitted, the front CV joints run at far steeper angles than stock. This kit drops the front differential to restore sane halfshaft geometry and let you use the full suspension stroke. CNC laser-cut steel brackets with black powder coat and polyurethane mounting bushings. Fully bolt-on, no cutting or welding.

ICON Front Differential Drop Kit – Toyota Tacoma 2024 / Land Cruiser 250

Lift an independent front suspension and the front CV joints start working at angles nobody designed them for. At full droop the shafts hang far below their intended plane, and joint life drops fast — long before anything visibly breaks.

This kit attacks the cause rather than the symptom. Instead of limiting how far the suspension can extend, it repositions the whole front differential lower so the halfshaft geometry falls back into a sane working range.

Fitment
Toyota Tacoma 2024 4WD and Land Cruiser 250 (LC250, IV, 2023 onward)
Construction
CNC laser-cut, brake-formed steel, black powder coat
Installation
100% bolt-on, no cutting or welding

Key benefits

  • Dropping the front differential improves the maximum operating angle of the driveshaft joints — in practice, far less risk of destroying a CV joint when the suspension fully extends off-road.
  • Lets you actually use the available suspension travel when paired with ICON coilovers, rather than capping it.
  • Polyurethane mounting bushings replace the soft OE items and limit deflection, so the differential stops moving under load and the drivetrain behaves more predictably.
  • CNC laser-cut and brake-formed steel bracketry with a durable black powder coat — built for water, salt and mud.
  • Fully bolt-on: no cutting, no welding, nothing irreversible done to the chassis.

Who it is for

This is for owners of the new Tacoma and Land Cruiser 250 who have moved to ICON suspension and genuinely use the extra clearance — trails, expedition loads, fast gravel. On a stock-height truck there is nothing here to fix. The kit earns its place the moment you start working the full suspension stroke and want the driveline to survive it.

Installation notes

The kit is bolt-on and uses factory mounting points, so no cutting or welding is required. It is normally fitted with the front axle unloaded, which makes it a natural job to combine with the suspension install itself. Our off-road workshop handles this type of conversion regularly if you would rather have it done and checked in one go.

Why it is worth it

  • It solves the specific problem of a lifted IFS — joint angles, not vague durability claims.
  • Polyurethane instead of soft OE rubber means less differential movement under load.
  • Bolt-on and reversible — the truck can go back to stock at any time.

If ICON coilovers are going into your 2024 Tacoma or Land Cruiser 250, order this kit alongside them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which vehicles does this kit fit?

The product page lists the 2024 Toyota Tacoma 4WD and the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Series (LC250 generation, IV, 2023 onward). ICON's own catalogue lists a wider year range plus the 4Runner 4WD, so confirm with us before buying for anything other than a 2024 truck.

Does installation require cutting or welding?

No. The kit is 100% bolt-on and uses the factory mounting points.

Is the kit useful without ICON coilovers?

Its job is to improve driveshaft joint angles at full suspension droop. The manufacturer describes it as maximising available travel when combined with ICON coilovers, which is the setup it is designed around.

How do the polyurethane bushings differ from stock?

The OE bushings are soft and let the differential move under load. The polyurethane bushings supplied here limit that deflection so the differential stays put.
