Overlander 270 Awning
A 270-degree awning that shelters the side and the rear of the vehicle under one canopy — tailgate kitchen, tent entrance and seating all covered. 600D ripstop polyester at 260 gsm with a PU 2000 mm+ coating, height-adjustable aluminium poles and a 550 g black PVC cover with an SBS zip.
Overlander 270 Awning
A rectangular awning covers one side of the vehicle and that is where it stops. A 270-degree design wraps the side and the entire rear, so the tailgate kitchen, the roof tent entrance and the chairs all sit under one canopy — no shifting camp every time the sun moves.
This is the version without LED lighting: a pure shade structure for people who already run their own camp lighting or would rather not add wiring to the roof.
COVERAGE Opens through 270 degrees | FABRIC Ripstop polyester 600D, 260 gsm | WATERPROOFING PU 2000 mm+ coating |
Key benefits
- 270-degree coverage — side and rear under one canopy, so the kitchen and the entrance are both sheltered instead of a narrow strip of shade.
- 260 gsm (600D) ripstop polyester — tear and abrasion resistant, which matters on a canopy that meets branches and gets packed away constantly.
- Breathable fabric — air circulates underneath, so it does not get as stuffy as it would under a sealed tarp.
- PU 2000 mm+ coating — rain runs off the canopy rather than through it.
- Height-adjustable aluminium poles — set the canopy angle to suit the ground and the weather.
- 550 g black PVC cover with an SBS zip — weather resistant, keeps dust, dirt and rain off the stowed awning, and the oversized branded zip does not seize up after one season.

It comes into its own on longer stops: a base camp for several days, an expedition with a roof tent, field work, club meets. If you cook out of the tailgate, 270-degree coverage changes day-to-day comfort more than almost any other camp accessory.
Fitting and notes
It mounts to a roof rack or roof bars on whichever side you want covered — decide before ordering whether you need the left- or right-hand configuration, and check your vehicle roof load rating. If you are unsure, the Szekla4x4 workshop can help you work it out.
Why it is worth it
- 270-degree reach is a different class of shelter from a plain rectangular awning — side and rear in one move.
- Concrete fabric figures (600D, 260 gsm, PU 2000 mm+) instead of marketing language.
- A proper PVC cover with an SBS zip — usually the first part to fail, done properly here.
