A complete set of Raptor 4x4 HD steering rods for the Suzuki Samurai. The 30 mm steel construction is clearly stiffer than the original parts, and greaseable rod ends keep play at bay for longer. Supplied ready to fit, with rod ends and the clamp bolt included.

HD Steering Rods Kit Raptor 4x4 Suzuki Samurai

Factory Samurai steering rods were sized for factory tyres. Add bigger wheels and a lift, and the familiar problems start: vague steering, the car wandering off line, and a rod that bends after a hard hit in a rut.

This kit replaces them with 30 mm steel rods. It comes ready to fit — both rods, greaseable ends and the clamp bolt are in the box, so nothing has to be sourced separately.

Steel, 30 mm diameter
Rod ends
Greaseable, nipples fitted
Joint
Raptor 4x4 polyurethane bushing

Key benefits

  • 30 mm steel rods are far stiffer than the originals — less flex under big tyres, so the car answers the wheel more predictably.
  • Greaseable ends can be serviced rather than replaced the moment play appears.
  • The joint runs on a Raptor 4x4 polyurethane bushing instead of standard rubber, so there is less give under load.
  • A complete, ready-to-fit kit — no separate hunt for matching rod ends.

What is in the box

  • two HD steering rods
  • 3 HD steering rod ends with grease nipples
  • clamp bolt for the sleeve joining the rods

Who it is for. The manufacturer recommends this kit particularly with larger wheels — exactly where the original rods stop being enough. It is a standard item on a Samurai being rebuilt for trail use, alongside a lift and stronger axles.

Fitting notes

The manufacturer states this kit suits wide-axle cars only, so check which axles your Samurai has before ordering, or ask us and we will help identify it. After fitting, the toe setting has to be redone and the steering wheel re-centred.

Why buy it

  • 30 mm steel instead of the factory section — a real stiffness difference, not a cosmetic one.
  • Greaseable ends extend the life of the linkage if you actually service it.
  • Complete kit with ends and clamp bolt: one delivery, one workshop visit.

If the steering went vague after you fitted bigger tyres, this is the sensible place to start.
