Raptor 4x4 HD Front Shock Absorber +5" (12.5 cm) Suzuki Samurai
Heavy-duty Raptor 4x4 front damper for a Suzuki Samurai running a 5" (12.5 cm) lift. Stronger and more capable than the original unit, supplied with a black protective boot over the piston rod to keep grit and mud away. Weight 2.30 kg.
Raptor 4x4 HD Front Shock Absorber +5" (12.5 cm) Suzuki Samurai
At 12.5 cm of lift a standard damper stops making any sense. It is simply too short – the suspension reaches the end of the shock stroke before the leaf spring has finished extending, and every one of those events sends a jolt straight into the mounts and the rod.
This unit is sized for a 5" lift and built stronger than the original at the same time. That matters, because a Samurai lifted this far usually runs large tyres and harder terrain, so the front damper works longer, hotter and in dirtier conditions.
Fitment Suzuki Samurai, front axle | Designed for +5" / 12.5 cm lift | Protection black rod boot |
Key benefits
- Matched to a 5" lift – the length suits a 12.5 cm raise, so the damper no longer caps the travel of a lifted suspension.
- Heavy-duty build – the manufacturer states greater strength and capability than the original unit, which pays off with a tall lift and bigger tyres.
- Rod boot included – the rubber sleeve keeps sand and mud off the polished rod surface, the usual starting point of a leaking off-road damper.
- 2.30 kg – noticeably more substantial than the standard-height units in the same family.

Who it is for
For a Samurai built for serious terrain – tall lift, big tyres, reworked spring packs. If the car sits around 12.5 cm higher than stock but the front still carries dampers chosen for a lower setup, those dampers are usually the reason for the harsh rebound and the mounts wearing out early.
Fitting notes
Check the actual lift height first: this version is intended for 12.5 cm, not for intermediate figures such as +7.5 cm, for which the manufacturer lists separate parts. With a lift this size it is also worth checking brake line length, driveshaft angles and steering geometry.
Why choose it
- A clearly stated lift height rather than a generic "for lifted 4x4" description.
- Reinforced construction instead of reusing a damper chosen for a lower car.
- The protective boot is part of the product, not an extra purchase.
The matching rear unit for the same lift is RAP-061514.
