HD Reinforced Front Half Shafts Raptor 4x4 Suzuki Samurai (26/33 splines)
A set of Raptor 4x4 reinforced front half shafts for the Suzuki Samurai, splined 26 on the differential side and 33 on the CV joint side. Made for cars with the wide front axle that run bigger wheels and put far more load through the drivetrain than the factory ever intended.
HD Reinforced Front Half Shafts Raptor 4x4 Suzuki Samurai
The factory front half shaft in a Samurai runs 22 splines. That was enough while the car sat on original tyres. Fit bigger wheels and the drivetrain loses its built-in fuse — the tyre no longer spins, so the full load goes into the shaft, and the front axle takes it mid-turn, in the worst possible geometry.
This set moves the front axle onto heavier splines: 26 on the differential side and 33 on the CV joint side. That is a different class of cross-section from the standard 22.
Splines — differential 26 | Splines — CV joint 33 | Axle Wide front axle only |
Key benefits
- 26 splines on the differential side and 33 on the joint side instead of the factory 22 — heavier splines carry more torque before anything shears.
- The 33-spline joint end matches Raptor 4x4 reinforced CV joints, so you do not leave a weak link halfway down the driveline.
- The manufacturer states compatibility clearly: Suzuki Samurai, SJ and Santana with the wide front axle, so you know up front whether your car qualifies.
- A set for the front axle rather than a single part — both sides carry the same strength margin.

This is for a Samurai that has already left the factory specification behind: larger wheels, off-road tread, often a locker or more power. On that car the front half shaft is one of the first parts to fail, especially when a wheel jams against an obstacle on lock. A reinforced set pushes that limit a long way out.
Fitting notes
Two things to check before ordering. First, the set fits only cars with the wide front axle. Second, if your car has been running the original 22-spline half shafts, the front differential has to be modified — the distributor points to kit RP2738K for that. It is a condition of fitting, not an option. If you want the whole package specified correctly, our off-road workshop can work through it with you.
Why it is worth it
- A genuine step up in spline size over the standard 22, not a cosmetic "uprate".
- The 33-spline joint end lets you build a consistent reinforced front driveline.
- Clearly defined fitting requirements — you know what you need before you strip the axle.
If the front driveline on your Samurai is working at its limit, this is where a serious rebuild starts.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many splines do these half shafts have?
26 on the differential side and 33 on the CV joint side.
Do they fit every Samurai?
No. The manufacturer states they fit only cars with the wide front axle — this covers Suzuki Samurai, SJ and Santana.
Is any modification needed to fit them?
Yes, if the car has been running the original 22-spline half shafts. The front differential then has to be modified, and the distributor points to kit RP2738K.
Will they work with the factory CV joints?
The shafts use 33 splines on the joint side, so they need a CV joint with the same spline count — in the Raptor 4x4 range that is RAP-06492.
What does the set weigh?
The manufacturer's data sheet lists 5 kg.
