Front Tubular Winch Bumper Type A with A-Bar, Suzuki Samurai (RAP-07012)

A winch is only as good as the structure you bolt it to. The standard front end of a Samurai is not that structure — you need a frame tied straight into the chassis rails, not a pressed bumper on brackets.

RAP-07012 is the fullest version of the Raptor 4x4 front tubular bumper for the Samurai: a welded assembly with an a-bar, an integrated winch carrier, four hi-lift adaptor holes in the main tube and an alloy plate across the lower centre section. Every bolt, nut and u-bolt is supplied, and the manufacturer states plainly that fitting needs no holes drilled in the chassis and no modification to the vehicle.

Key benefits

  • The winch carrier is welded into the bumper structure rather than bolted on the side, so pull loads spread across the whole frame and into the chassis rails.
  • Four hi-lift adaptor holes in the main tube give you several pick-up points, which makes it easier to set the jack at whatever angle the terrain allows.
  • The a-bar carries a light mount, so driving lamps or a work light go on without fabricating brackets.
  • An alloy plate in the lower centre section covers the winch area and tidies up the front of the car.
  • A licence plate carrier is built into the design.
  • Seamless tube as the base material — a uniform wall with no seam running along the section.

Who it is for

If your Samurai goes where you occasionally have to pull yourself out — muddy forest tracks, water crossings, group trips where you are the one doing the recovery — this is the right starting point. Front protection, a winch base and a jacking point arrive as one part instead of three separate modifications. It also makes sense if you are building the truck in stages: fit the bumper now and add the winch later, because the mount is already waiting.

Fitting notes

Per the manufacturer instructions the bumper arrives as a finished welded structure with the winch carrier already part of it. You strip the original bumper completely, offer the new one up and bolt it loosely to the chassis using the supplied brackets: the outer bracket bolts to the chassis rails, the inner one is held by a counter-bracket and u-bolts against the inner chassis tube. Only once everything lines up do you torque the whole set down. Two points the manufacturer makes clear: no chassis drilling or vehicle modification is required, but if you do fit a winch, the outer grille has to be cut to make room to fix and operate it. The illustrated instruction sheet is published by Raptor.

Why buy it

  • Bumper and winch mount are a single welded part, so there are fewer bolted joints to check after every pull.
  • Complete hardware in the kit and no drilling in the chassis — the conversion stays reversible.
  • An official manufacturer fitting instruction exists, so the workshop is not improvising.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does fitting require drilling the chassis?

No. The official fitting instructions state that the product needs no holes in the chassis and no modification to the vehicle — all hardware is supplied.

Do I need to modify anything to run a winch?

One thing. The manufacturer's instructions say the outer grille must be cut to create room to fix and operate the winch.

What hardware comes in the kit?

Per the 07012 instructions: 2 zinc-plated D.10 u-bolts, 8 TCEI 10x30 socket screws, 12 D.10 self-locking nuts and 20 D.10 flat washers, together with the chassis brackets.

How does it differ from RAP-07015?

RAP-07012 is the type A bumper, RAP-07015 the type B. The type A adds four hi-lift adaptor holes and an alloy plate in the lower centre section, and weighs 23 kg against 24 kg for the type B.

Does it take auxiliary lights?

Yes. The a-bar includes a light carrier and the bumper itself has work light mounting holes.
