Adjustable Monotube Front Shock +40 mm Toyota Land Cruiser KZJ90/95 – Raptor 4x4 (RAP-16153)
Every off-the-shelf lift has the same limitation: you get the ride height the spring maker calculated, while your truck carries its own load — a heavier bumper, a winch, maybe a light bar and a roof rack. The result is often a nose sitting a centimetre lower than you wanted, with nothing you can do about it.
This unit takes a different route. The Raptor 4x4 coaxial monotube has a threaded body with two collars and a spring plate, so you set the front ride height yourself, for your actual build rather than for a statistical average.
Axle front | Design monotube coilover | Adjustment 2 collars + plate | For lift +40 mm |
Key benefits
- Threaded ride-height adjustment — two collars and a spring plate let you correct front height after adding hardware, without swapping springs.
- Monotube construction — a single-tube body holds more oil and sheds heat better than a typical twin-tube cartridge, which in practice means steadier damping over long, demanding stages.
- Coaxial coilover layout — the spring works concentric with the damper, keeping the assembly compact and geometrically predictable.
- Red shaft boot included — the rod is protected from grit and stone strikes from day one, and shaft damage is the usual cause of leaks in off-road dampers.
- Black finish — in line with the maker’s Performance HD range.
What is in the box
- Monotube damper with threaded body, two adjuster collars and a spring plate
- Red shaft protection boot
The manufacturer states explicitly that the damper is supplied without a spring — the spring is specified separately.

This is for the KZJ90/95 owner building suspension deliberately: someone who wants control over front height, plans a heavier bumper or a winch, or simply does not want to re-specify springs every season to level the truck. If you want the simplest like-for-like replacement, the oil/gas 16151 from the same range is the easier and cheaper route.
Fitting notes
The manufacturer offers a pair of dedicated adjuster spanners separately (part 16153KEY) — worth adding if you intend to set the height yourself. Dampers are fitted in pairs per axle. Changing ride height alters suspension geometry and headlight aim, so plan a geometry check afterwards; our workshop can handle that.
Why buy this
- Genuine front ride-height adjustment instead of one fixed lift figure.
- Monotube rather than twin-tube — steadier damping under long, heavy work.
- Shaft protection as standard, so less chance of a leak after the first gravel season.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a spring included?
No. The manufacturer states clearly that the damper is sold without a spring; the spring is chosen separately.
How does the adjustment work?
The damper body is threaded; ride height is set with two adjuster collars and the plate the spring seats on.
Do I need special spanners to adjust it?
The manufacturer sells a pair of dedicated adjuster spanners separately, part number 16153KEY.
How does it differ from the standard Raptor 4x4 damper for this vehicle?
This is a monotube in a coaxial coilover layout with height adjustment, finished in black. The simpler option is the oil/gas 16151 — no adjustment and not a monotube.
Is the shaft protected?
Yes, the damper comes with a red shaft protection boot.
