Adjustable airLYNX APEX front sway bar end links for the Jeep Wrangler JL, JT and JK. They change the stiffness of the stock bar by raising or lowering pressure inside the links, from 0 to 300 PSI - stock stiffness on tarmac, trail-rate behaviour off-road. Extended length 8.66", stroke 2", for a 0-4.5" lift.

airLYNX APEX Adjustable Front Sway Bar End Links - Jeep JL, JT, JK

A fixed sway bar is always a compromise: either it holds the vehicle on tarmac or it lets the wheels work off-road.

airLYNX removes that choice - you change the stiffness of the stock bar with pressure inside the links, anywhere from 0 to 300 PSI, without replacing anything in the suspension.

Key benefits

  • turns the stock bar into an adjustable bar - from factory stiffness to a soft off-road rate
  • factory stiffness on tarmac and trail-rate behaviour off-road, with nothing to swap over
  • better control and traction off-road thanks to freer wheel movement
  • a complement to the Rubicon electronic disconnect — the manufacturer describes it as the best of both worlds: disconnect for the rocks, then reconnect and tune the rate with pressure for the fast sections
  • set the pressure once or change it for a particular trail

Technical data

  • Manufacturer part number: X02-09-008
  • Vehicles: Jeep JL, JT, JK - front axle
  • Pressure range: 0-300 PSI
  • Pressure per the install instructions: a minimum of 150 PSI and a maximum of 300 PSI on the road - 300 PSI being full lock, which equals factory bar stiffness - and 0 PSI and up off road; running at 0 PSI on the street is prohibited
  • Charge the links every 6 months if they have not been discharged in that time
  • Lift range: 0-4.5"
  • Extended length: 8.66"
  • Stroke: 2"
  • Particularly suited to: Rubicon models with the factory electronic sway bar disconnect
  • Accessories sold separately: Remote Fill for airLYNX, Zero Loss Chuck for airLYNX, LYNX mounting bolt kit for JL/JT/JK

Who it is for

For Wrangler JL and JK and Gladiator JT owners who drive both on tarmac and off-road and do not want to choose between handling and articulation. Especially for Rubicons with the electronic disconnect — the manufacturer positions the airLYNX alongside it as a complement rather than a replacement.

Installation and notes

The manufacturer provides a PDF installation guide and an instructional video. The LYNX mounting bolt kit for JL/JT/JK is sold separately. Charging requires a Zero Loss chuck (X02-12-008) and a shock pump - an ordinary chuck releases air on disconnection and the link holds a small volume. Once charged, the pressure cannot be checked either: connecting the pump alone lowers it.

Installation as the manufacturer specifies it

No machining is involved — you remove the factory links and keep the lower bolts and nuts, because they go back on. Model year 2024 and newer: the manufacturer includes a 12 mm to 14 mm pin adapter with a washer and spacer (bag X02-17-006) — without it the upper mount does not fit.

Sequence and torque. Start with the sway bar side, because the bar can then swing down and leave room for the wrench — and do not fully tighten it yet. Then the lower mounts on the factory bolts, 50 ft-lbs. Finally the upper nuts, 30 ft-lbs, with a socket or a crow's foot while holding the body steady — the body must not be rotated. The Schrader fill port faces the front of the vehicle on both sides. Grease the rubber sway bar mounts with silicone grease if the bar takes excessive force to rotate. Installation time per the manufacturer: 0.5-1 hours.

Care and service. The finish resists salt and most chemicals, but the manufacturer advises against strong acids such as mag wheel cleaner. The link is rebuildable — after crash damage APEX supplies replacement parts.

Frequently asked questions

How should the pressure be set?

The manufacturer gives limits rather than suggestions: a minimum of 150 PSI and a maximum of 300 PSI on the road, and 0 PSI off road only - running at 0 PSI on the street is prohibited. 300 PSI is full lock, the stiffness of the factory bar. The links have to be charged every 6 months.

Will it suit my lift?

The manufacturer quotes a range of 0-4.5".

Does it replace the Rubicon electronic disconnect?

No. The airLYNX works alongside it - you disconnect on the rocks, then reconnect and set a pressure for the fast sections. That is exactly how the manufacturer describes it; it says nothing about reduced load on the factory mechanism, so neither do we.

Why does the gauge read less than I set?

That is normal. The manufacturer warns that after refitting the gauge chuck the reading will be lower than the value set.

Why it is worth it

  • one answer instead of choosing between on-road handling and off-road articulation
  • the setting is changed from outside, with no tools and no crawling under the vehicle
