RIVAL 2AB.ST.1814.2 – controlled tailgate lowering for your pickup
RIVAL 2AB.ST.1814.2 is a vehicle-specific tailgate assist kit designed for the Ford Ranger and Ranger Raptor from 2022 and Volkswagen Amarok from 2023. Its purpose is to control the movement of the heavy pickup tailgate when opening, preventing it from dropping rapidly under its own weight.
Key benefits
- Controlled tailgate lowering – helps prevent the heavy tailgate from dropping suddenly when opened.
- STABILUS-based solution – RIVAL Tailgate Assist systems use STABILUS damping components.
- No drilling required – installation uses the vehicle's original mounting points.
- Vehicle-specific design – mounting hardware and damping characteristics are selected for the intended vehicle application.
- Steel mounting components – RIVAL specifies 4.0 mm steel construction.
More convenient everyday tailgate operation
A pickup tailgate is relatively heavy and can drop quickly once released. The RIVAL Tailgate Assist system controls this movement, making regular access to the load bed more convenient during everyday driving, work and off-road trips.
Vehicle-specific installation
Rather than using a universal installation requiring custom adaptation, the system is designed around the original mounting points of the intended vehicle. No additional drilling is required.
Vehicle applications
- Ford Ranger – from 2022
- Ford Ranger Raptor – from 2022
- Volkswagen Amarok – from 2023
Always confirm the vehicle model year and generation before ordering, particularly for vehicles manufactured around a generation change.
