A large-bodied reservoir shock is not a disposable part. After a few seasons of mud, salt and sand the seals wear — the shaft starts to weep oil and the damping goes soft. On a cheap shock that is the end of the product's life. On a RockSport BLACK it is an hour of work and this kit.
MetalCloak supplies a complete, pre-assembled head — the hardest part of the job is already done. Inside sit the sleeve bearing, the U-cup seal, the wiper seal and the back-up ring, and all the O-rings needed to reseal the shock come with it.

Who it is for
For owners of RockSport BLACK shocks that have earned their miles. If there is oil on the shaft or the damping has lost its character, the shock is not scrap — it needs seals. The kit is also a sensible thing to have on the shelf before a long trip if your shocks already have a few seasons on them.
Installation notes
MetalCloak rates the work as easy and allows about an hour per shock, with no modification to the vehicle. No written instructions are supplied with this kit — the manufacturer assumes the rebuild is done by someone familiar with reservoir shock internals.
