A bracket that relocates the axle-side steering stabilizer mount higher, out of the impact zone, and makes room for a larger aftermarket stabilizer. CAD formed 3/16in steel, gold zinc plated, all hardware included. Bolts into the factory holes — no drilling, no welding, about 1 hour. Requires a minimum of 2in bump stop and is intended for aftermarket stabilizers.

MetalCloak Steering Stabilizer Axle Side Mount, Jeep Wrangler JK

The factory steering stabilizer mount on a JK sits low and exposed to everything that comes at it from the front: rocks, branches, the edges of ruts. On a lifted vehicle running larger tyres there is a second problem — a heavier aftermarket steering stabilizer often simply will not fit in the factory bracket.

This bracket solves both at once. It relocates the axle-side mount higher, out of the impact zone, and at the same time makes room for a larger stabilizer. It fits into the factory holes, bolt-on — no drilling and no welding.

Two conditions to check before ordering

  • You need at least 2in of bump stop. MetalCloak states it plainly: a raised steering stabilizer requires a minimum of 2 inches of bump stop to clear the frame at full compression. That is a condition, not a recommendation — without it the stabilizer will hit the frame.
  • The bracket is for aftermarket steering stabilizers, not the factory one. If you are still running the original stabilizer, this bracket on its own achieves nothing.

Not sure how much bump stop you have, or whether your stabilizer suits? Get in touch — we will check before you order.

If you are also buying a steering stabilizer

We stock the complete MetalCloak RockSport RED steering stabilizer kit with relocation for the JK, which already includes this bracket along with a purpose-tuned stabilizer. If you are replacing the stabilizer, buy the kit — it costs less than the two items separately. This bracket on its own makes sense when you already have an aftermarket stabilizer, or are choosing a different one such as the adjustable RockSport BLACK XD.

Key benefits

  • The stabilizer moves out of the impact zone – relocated upward, away from the rocks and obstacles that hit it first in the factory position.
  • Room for a larger stabilizer – the added clearance lets a heavier aftermarket unit fit where the factory bracket will not take one.
  • CAD formed 3/16in steel – hot rolled plate around 4.8 mm thick, formed to shape rather than bent to fit.
  • Mounts in factory holes – bolt-on, no drilling and no welding. MetalCloak allows about an hour for the job.
  • Gold zinc plating – the part lives right above the axle, in mud and salt.
  • All mounting hardware included – nothing to source separately.

Who it is for

For lifted JK owners who have fitted, or are fitting, a heavier steering stabilizer and would rather not lose it on the first serious section. It makes particular sense on rocky terrain, where the low factory mount takes the hits first. It is a small line item next to the cost of the stabilizer itself, and it protects a part that is simply exposed where it sits.

Installation notes

MetalCloak rates the install as easy and allows about an hour, with no modification to the vehicle — the bracket uses the factory holes. Once the stabilizer has moved, it is worth checking clearance at full compression; hence the 2in bump stop requirement.

If you would rather leave it to a workshop, or want the whole steering system looked over at the same time, come to us: Szekla4x4.pl is an authorised MetalCloak dealer with a workshop specialising in off-road suspension.

Why it is worth it

  • A steering stabilizer costs many times what this bracket does, and without it hangs in the worst possible place.
  • Bolt-on into factory holes — an hour of work, nothing touched on the vehicle.
  • It also solves the clearance problem for a larger aftermarket stabilizer.

Frequently asked questions

Does it fit the factory steering stabilizer?

No. MetalCloak intends this bracket for aftermarket stabilizers.

How much bump stop do I need?

A minimum of 2 inches. A raised steering stabilizer needs that much to clear the frame at full compression.

Does fitting require drilling or welding?

No. The bracket bolts into the factory holes. MetalCloak allows about an hour for the job.

Is this the axle-side or the tie-rod-side mount?

The axle side. The tie-rod-side mount is a separate item — we stock that too.

Do I need it if I am buying the RockSport RED kit with relocation?

No. That kit already includes this same bracket.

Which model years does it fit?

The Jeep Wrangler JK from 2007 to 2018.
