Stabilizer mounts
MetalCloak Steering Stabilizer 1.375in Tie Rod Mount, Jeep Wrangler JK
A bracket that replaces the factory steering stabilizer mount on the tie rod. It clamps to the stock 1.375in tie rod and lets the stabilizer be rotated to line up with the axle-side bracket. CAD formed 3/16in steel, gold zinc plated, all hardware included. Bolt-on, no welding, about 1 hour. Rods around 4.1 cm need a different version — measure before ordering.
MetalCloak Steering Stabilizer 1.375in Tie Rod Mount, Jeep Wrangler JK
The factory steering stabilizer mount on a JK's tie rod is one of the first things to go off-road — and when the stabilizer is upgraded, it turns out there is no proper way to attach the new one to it either.
This bracket replaces that factory mount. It clamps onto the stock 1.375in tie rod and lets a stem-mount steering stabilizer attach to it, then be rotated to align the damper with the axle-side bracket. It is one half of the system — the other half is the axle-side mount.

⚠ Measure your tie rod first
This is the one thing that can go wrong with this purchase, so we are saying it up front.
- Stock tie rod, 1.375in (approx. 3.5 cm) — this bracket. That covers the large majority of JKs still running the original rod.
- Larger rod, around 4.1 cm (1.625in) — typically heavy-duty aftermarket tie rods, MetalCloak's own included. Those need the 4.1 cm version of the bracket, which we stock as a separate item.
Measuring takes a moment: calipers or a tape where the clamp will sit. If you are not sure, get in touch — tell us which tie rod you have and we will point you to the right version.
A complete mount is two brackets
A steering stabilizer attaches at two points: on the tie rod (this product) and on the axle. If you are relocating the whole assembly higher, you need both — we stock the axle-side bracket separately. If you are only replacing a damaged factory tie rod mount, this bracket alone is enough.
Key benefits
- Replaces the factory mount with something stronger – CAD formed 3/16in (approx. 4.8 mm) steel plate instead of thin pressed sheet.
- Lets the stabilizer be rotated – once clamped to the rod, you set the angle so the damper lines up with the axle-side bracket. Without that, a raised mount makes correct damper geometry impossible.
- Bolt-on, no welding – U-bolt clamps close around the tie rod. MetalCloak allows about an hour for the job.
- Gold zinc plating – the part lives in the most exposed spot under the vehicle.
- All mounting hardware included – nothing to source separately.
- Made in the USA.

Who it is for
Two groups. First, JK owners whose factory tie rod mount simply got destroyed on the trail — it is one of the first parts to take a hit. Second, anyone fitting a heavier stem-mount steering stabilizer that the factory mount was never made for. In both cases it is a small outlay that settles the problem once.
Installation notes
MetalCloak rates the install as easy and allows about an hour, with no modification to the vehicle. The bracket clamps to the rod, so position and angle are set before final tightening — worth doing after the axle side is mounted, so the stabilizer works in one plane.
MetalCloak recommends an alignment by a suspension specialist after any work on a MetalCloak suspension. Szekla4x4.pl is an authorised MetalCloak dealer with a workshop specialising in off-road suspension — we will fit it and set it up.
Why it is worth it
- The factory tie rod mount is among the first things to go off-road.
- Being able to rotate the mount is what lets the stabilizer line up correctly with the axle-side bracket.
- An hour of work, no welding, nothing modified on the vehicle.

Frequently asked questions
Which tie rod does it fit?
The stock 1.375in (approx. 3.5 cm) tie rod on the Jeep Wrangler JK 2007–2018.
I have a heavy-duty tie rod — does this fit?
Most likely not. Heavy-duty rods are usually around 4.1 cm and need a different version of the bracket, which we stock. Measure the rod before ordering, or get in touch.
Is this the complete steering stabilizer mount?
No. This is the tie rod side. The axle-side mount is a separate item — we stock that too.
Which stabilizers is it made for?
Stem-mount stabilizers. MetalCloak designed it around the RockSport steering stabilizer.
Does fitting require welding?
No. The bracket clamps to the rod. MetalCloak allows about an hour for the job.
Is an alignment needed afterwards?
MetalCloak recommends an alignment by a specialist after any suspension work. For this bracket alone it is a matter of checking, but if you are doing more at the same time, an alignment is mandatory.
