Track bar mounts
MetalCloak Weld-On Track Bar and Steering Stabilizer Relocation Bracket, Jeep Wrangler JK
A weld-on bracket that raises the track bar mount so its angle matches a flipped drag link (hi-steer) — restoring steering geometry after a large lift. It carries a built-in raised steering stabilizer mount. 1/4in steel (approx. 6.4 mm), raw finish. ⚠ Weld-on only, a full replacement of the factory mount, rated difficult, about 3 hours, with no instructions provided. For lifts of 4.5in and above.
MetalCloak Weld-On Track Bar & Steering Stabilizer Relocation Bracket, Jeep Wrangler JK
On a heavily lifted JK the problem stops being ground clearance and becomes steering geometry. Once the vehicle is raised, the track bar and the drag link work at different angles — the vehicle starts wandering, and on larger tyres the tendency to death wobble comes with it. Flipping the drag link solves half of the problem. The other half is raising the track bar mount so both bars work close to parallel again.
This bracket does exactly that. It replaces the factory track bar mount and raises it to match the angle of a flipped drag link. It also carries a built-in raised steering stabilizer mount, so it settles two things at once.

⚠ Read this before ordering — this is not a product for everyone
MetalCloak puts it plainly and we will repeat it: this is a weld-on product. Do not buy it unless you are prepared to weld it on. The bracket arrives as a set of raw plates, uncoated, and the job requires:
- cutting away and removing the factory mount — this is a full replacement, not an add-on over the original;
- welding on the axle, with the correct geometry held;
- corrosion protection after welding — the part comes raw, with no finish;
- and MetalCloak provides no written instructions for this product.
MetalCloak rates the install as difficult and allows 3 hours. This is work for a shop that has done conversions like this before. If you do not have one — Szekla4x4.pl is an authorised MetalCloak dealer with a workshop specialising in off-road suspension. Get in touch before you order.
There is also a bolt-on version — check whether it suits you better
MetalCloak makes the same part in two versions and we stock both:
THIS VERSION — WELD-ON 1/4in steel (6.4 mm), raw finish. Requires cutting away the factory mount and welding. Rated difficult, 3 hours, no instructions. The stronger, more permanent solution, typical of competition builds and big-tyre vehicles. | BOLT-ON VERSION 3/16in steel (4.8 mm), gold zinc plated, all hardware included. No drilling, no welding. The same function, within reach of any competent workshop — and nothing to protect afterwards. |
If you do not have access to a good welder, take the bolt-on version. The weld-on makes sense when you want maximum strength, or when the axle is being rebuilt anyway.
⚠ It only works with a flipped drag link
This is not a standalone upgrade. The bracket is designed to be used together with a hi-steer / drag link flip conversion — it raises the track bar mount so it matches the angle of the flipped drag link. Fitted without that conversion it will make the geometry worse, not better.
From what lift — the manufacturer's data is inconsistent
Honestly: MetalCloak gives two different thresholds. The product description says the bracket is for lifts of 4.5in or more ("should only be used when lifting a Jeep JK 4.5 inches or more"), while the technical section says over 3.5in. Each figure appears twice.
In practice: from 4.5in upward the case is clear. If you are between 3.5in and 4.5in, send us your configuration — we will ask the manufacturer and confirm before you order. We would rather you did not weld a part into your axle that you did not need.
Key benefits
- Steering geometry restored – the track bar and drag link work at similar angles again, which is the condition for predictable handling after a lift.
- Built-in raised steering stabilizer mount – extra clearance and protection for the stabilizer without buying a separate bracket.
- 1/4in hot rolled steel – around 6.4 mm, CAD formed for precise fitment. Thicker than typical bolt-on brackets.
- Welded construction with a gusset – inner bracket, outer bracket and gusset. Once welded it is part of the axle, not something bolted to it.
- Strong enough for hydro assist – MetalCloak confirms the 1/4in material suits it.
- Made in the USA.

Who it is for
For vehicles on 4.5in lifts and above going over to a hi-steer conversion — and for the shops that do those conversions. This is not a part you "add on": it is part of building the vehicle, and it changes the geometry of the whole front end. It belongs on big-tyre builds, competition vehicles, and Jeeps that stopped tracking properly on the road after a lift.
Compatibility — questions the manufacturer has answered
- Does it fit over the factory mount? No — it is a full replacement. The factory mount has to be removed.
- Does it fit the rear? No. The rear mount is a different shape and height.
- Will it take hydro assist? Yes. MetalCloak states the 1/4in material suits hydro assist; on such an install different tabs replace the stabilizer bracket.
Installation notes
The factory mount has to be removed, the new one welded in the correct position, and the whole thing protected against corrosion afterwards — the part arrives raw. MetalCloak supplies no instructions, so the sequence and reference points have to come from experience or be established on the vehicle.
An alignment is mandatory after work like this. Szekla4x4.pl is an authorised MetalCloak dealer with a workshop specialising in off-road suspension — we will weld it in, assemble the steering and set the geometry. Send us your configuration and we will tell you exactly what is needed.
Why it is worth it
- After a big lift, steering geometry is what decides whether the vehicle is drivable on the road.
- One part settles two things: the track bar and the steering stabilizer mount.
- 1/4in steel welded into the axle is a permanent solution, not a bolted compromise.

Frequently asked questions
Can it be bolted on?
This part, no — it is weld-on only. MetalCloak does make a separate bolt-on version with the same function, which we also stock. If you would rather not weld, choose that one.
Does the factory mount stay?
No. This is a full replacement — the factory mount must be removed before the new one is welded in.
Do I need a flipped drag link for this?
Yes. The bracket is designed to work with a hi-steer / drag link flip conversion. Without one it serves no purpose.
From what lift?
MetalCloak says 4.5in and above in one place and over 3.5in in another. If you fall between those, get in touch before ordering.
Does it fit the rear axle?
No. MetalCloak confirms the rear mount is a different shape and height.
Will it take hydro assist?
Yes. MetalCloak states the 1/4in material suits hydro assist. On such an install, different tabs replace the stabilizer bracket.
Do I need a separate steering stabilizer bracket?
No. The raised stabilizer mount is built into this kit.
Is the part corrosion protected?
No. It arrives raw, prepared for welding — protection is applied after installation.
