Sway Bar Link
MetalCloak Heavy Duty Front Sway Bar Disconnect Links, Jeep Wrangler JK, Pair
A pair of heavy duty front sway bar disconnect links: 1in × 1/4in DOM tube, spherical rod ends in chromoly steel with a self-lubricating race instead of rubber bushings, 3/4in pins, machined wrench flats and double adjustment on the vehicle. Length 11in–12in — the manufacturer: the extra length supports the extended shocks and prevents the sway bar flipping while articulated. Gold zinc, bolts into factory locations, 1 hour. ⚠ JK with the electronic sway bar disconnect only (Rubicon). Price is for a pair.
MetalCloak Heavy Duty Front Sway Bar Disconnect Links, Jeep Wrangler JK, Pair
Disconnecting the sway bar before you head off-road is the simplest way to let the suspension give you the articulation it was designed for. On a JK with the electronic disconnect that is a button press — but after a lift the factory links are too short and too weak for what happens next.
This kit replaces them. 1in DOM tube with a 1/4in wall, spherical rod ends instead of rubber bushings, massive 3/4in mounting pins, and a length of 11in–12in adjustable on the vehicle. Gold zinc finish, all hardware included.
Bolts into the factory locations, no cutting. The manufacturer rates it easy, 1 hour, no body modification. The price is for a pair.

VEHICLE Jeep Wrangler JK 2007–2018 with electronic sway bar | LENGTH 11in–12in (280–305 mm), adjustable | INSTALLATION 1 h, bolt-on, no modification |
⚠ For JK models with the electronic sway bar disconnect only
This is a requirement, not a suggestion — the manufacturer lists it under requirements: "For use with JK Wranglers equipped with electronic sway bar". The kit includes parts of the disconnect mechanism and works with the factory actuator.
On the JK, the electronic front sway bar disconnect is Rubicon equipment. The quickest check: is there a "SWAY BAR" button on your dashboard?
No button? Then the right kit is the manual quick-disconnect version (part no. 7421) — built the same way, but released with a linch pin and supplied with stow straps for the bar. We stock it. If you are not sure, get in touch before ordering.
Why they are so long — the manufacturer's answer
The 11in–12in length is not arbitrary, and not spare length "just in case". Asked about it directly, the manufacturer answered that the additional length is needed to support the extended length of the shocks and to prevent the sway bar from flipping while articulated.
That matters when choosing: these links are designed for MetalCloak's JK 2.5in–4.5in mid arm lifts. For a different setup — a long arm conversion in particular — get in touch and we will confirm the choice.
Spherical rod ends instead of rubber — that is the difference
MetalCloak also makes standard links, and is honest about them: they work great for most applications. This version is for those for whom that is not enough.
THIS VERSION — HEAVY DUTY 1in × 1/4in DOM tube, spherical rod ends in chromoly steel, precision ground, hard chrome plated, with a self-lubricating race. Machined wrench flats, double adjustable. 3/4in pins. | STANDARD LINK A thinner, stamped body with rubber bushings. Cheaper and adequate for road-and-trail use, but the rubber wears out and the link flexes under heavy loads. |

What a spherical rod end gives you: more rigidity (the sway bar acts immediately, with no dead zone while rubber deflects), a much longer service life, and none of the knocking that worn bushings produce. The race is self-lubricating, so there is no grease point to service.
Construction
- 1in DOM tube with a 1/4in wall (A513 steel) – far stronger than the stamped factory link.
- Spherical rod ends – chromoly steel, precision ground, hard chrome plated, self-lubricating race.
- 3/4in mounting studs – 1.25 × 41330 steel.
- Machined wrench flats – adjustment with an open spanner, without dismantling the link.
- Double adjustable – length is set from both ends, allowing fine corrections on the vehicle.
- Gold zinc finish throughout.
- Made in the USA.

Who they are for
For lifted JK Rubicons that genuinely go off-road and use the sway bar disconnect — and for anyone who has already worn out the rubber bushings in the factory links and would rather not repeat it.
If you drive mostly on the road and go off it occasionally, the standard links will do — we are repeating the manufacturer here and have no reason to dress it up. This version is for when rigidity and service life matter to you.
Installation notes
The install is simple: the links go into the factory locations, with no cutting or drilling. The manufacturer allows an hour and rates the difficulty as easy. Once fitted, the length has to be set so that with the vehicle on its wheels the sway bar sits neutral — otherwise it will work under preload.
Szekla4x4.pl is an authorised MetalCloak dealer with a workshop specialising in off-road suspension — we will fit and set them. Send us your configuration and we will confirm the length.
Why they are worth it
- A 1in × 1/4in tube instead of a stamped tab — the link stops being the weakest part.
- Spherical rod ends with a self-lubricating race: no wear-out, no knocking, no servicing.
- Adjustable with a spanner on the vehicle, without removal.
- Bolts into the factory locations in an hour, with nothing modified on the body.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for a pair or a single link?
For a pair. The manufacturer confirmed it directly in answer to a customer's question.
Do they fit a JK without the electronic sway bar?
No. The manufacturer specifies models with the electronic sway bar disconnect — on the JK that is Rubicon equipment. Get in touch if you are not sure.
My JK has no SWAY BAR button — what then?
Then the right kit is the manual quick-disconnect version (part no. 7421), which we also stock. The same tube and the same rod ends, but released with a linch pin and supplied with stow straps for the bar.
Why are the links so long?
The manufacturer: the additional length supports the extended shocks and prevents the sway bar from flipping while articulated.
What lift are they for?
Designed for MetalCloak JK 2.5in–4.5in mid arm lifts. For a different setup, ask before ordering.
How do they differ from the standard links?
A thicker tube (1in × 1/4in) and spherical rod ends instead of rubber bushings. The standard links are cheaper and — as the manufacturer itself says — adequate for most applications.
Do the rod ends need greasing?
No. The race is self-lubricating.
Is any cutting or drilling required?
No. They bolt into the factory locations, with no body modification.
