Sway Bar Link
MetalCloak Front Sway Bar Link Extension Kit, 14.5in, Jeep Wrangler JK, Pair
A pair of front sway bar links extended to 14.5in. After a lift the factory links are too short and the bar runs under preload — the vehicle leans in corners and play appears at the steering. 1/2in-13 steel, rubber boot seal, gold zinc, OE quality. Bolts into factory locations, 1 hour, no modification. Choose by lift: 14.5in for 4.5in mid arm and 4.5in–5.5in long arm (shorter 12.25in is part no. 7015). ⚠ JK with the electronic sway bar only. Price is for a pair.
MetalCloak Front Sway Bar Link Extension Kit, 14.5in, Jeep Wrangler JK, Pair
Lift a vehicle and the sway bar stays where it is while the axle drops away. The factory links, sized for standard ride height, start working at an angle they were never designed for — the bar runs under preload and stops doing its job. The symptoms are familiar: the vehicle leans in corners, play appears at the steering wheel, and at full compression the link can bind.
This kit puts that right. Extended to 14.5in, these links restore the sway bar's geometry at a large lift. 1/2in-13 steel, a rubber boot seal on the joint, gold zinc chromate finish, and OE-level fit and finish.
Bolts into the factory locations — no cutting, no modification. The manufacturer rates it easy, 1 hour. The price is for a pair.

VEHICLE Jeep Wrangler JK 2007–2018 with electronic sway bar | LENGTH 14.5in (approx. 368 mm), fixed | LIFT 4.5in mid arm or 4.5in–5.5in long arm |
Length follows the lift — the table
This is the key point with this product: there is no "better" or "worse" link, only the right and the wrong length. MetalCloak divides them like this:
THESE — 14.5in (7221) Lift 4.5in mid arm or 4.5in–5.5in long arm. JK only. | SHORTER — 12.25in (7015) Lift 2.5in–4.5in mid arm on a JK. That version also fits the JL and the Gladiator. We stock it. |
Links that are too short after a big lift are not a detail. One of the manufacturer's customers described it precisely: after fitting 5.5in springs he kept his 4.5in links, and the vehicle began to lean in corners while play appeared in the steering. Changing to 14.5in links front and rear restored normal handling.
⚠ For JK models with the electronic sway bar disconnect only
The manufacturer lists it under requirements: "For use with JK Wranglers equipped with electronic sway bar disconnects". These links are not a disconnect kit — the disconnect stays factory, at the button. Only the length changes.
The quickest check: is there a "SWAY BAR" button on your dashboard? On the JK that is Rubicon equipment. No button? At the same lift the right kit is then the 14.5in quick disconnect (part no. 7220) — the same length, but with a manual pin release and an extension bracket. We stock it.
Where this sits in our JK link range
We offer three solutions for the front axle, and they differ in substance, not only in price:
THESE — 7221, 14.5in Fixed length, rubber boot seal, OE quality. Factory disconnect. The only option at this length — the heavy duty kits are shorter. | 7420 — heavy duty 11in–12in adjustable, 1in × 1/4in DOM tube, spherical rod ends. Lift 2.5in–4.5in. Factory disconnect. | 7421 — heavy duty, manual The same as 7420, but without the electronics — released on linch pins, with stow straps. |
A practical note: the heavy duty kits are 11in–12in and intended for 2.5in–4.5in mid arm lifts. At 4.5in–5.5in on long arms they are simply too short — in that setup this kit is the right choice. The manufacturer says itself that the standard links work great for most applications; the heavy duty version is for those who want the rigidity of a spherical rod end.
Construction
- 14.5in length (approx. 368 mm) – fixed, sized for a 4.5in–5.5in lift.
- 1/2in-13 steel – imperial thread, matching the factory mounting.
- Rubber boot seal – protects the joint from water, grit and salt. This is the factory-style solution, not an exposed spherical rod end.
- Gold zinc chromate finish throughout.
- OE-level fit and finish – the manufacturer highlights this as the defining feature of the line.
- Bolts into the factory locations – no cutting, drilling or modification.

Who they are for
For lifted JK Rubicons at 4.5in and above — especially those still running the factory or otherwise too-short links after the lift. This is one of those items easily forgotten when a lift is put together, and one that genuinely changes how the vehicle behaves on the road.
Do not forget the rear axle. At a large lift the rear links become too short as well — the manufacturer makes separate rear kits for the JK. Send us your configuration and we will put the set together.
Installation notes
The job is simple: unbolt the old links, bolt the new ones into the same points. The manufacturer allows an hour and rates the difficulty as easy. The vehicle should be on its wheels so the sway bar sits neutral — fitting on a lift with the axles hanging leaves the bar under preload.
Szekla4x4.pl is an authorised MetalCloak dealer with a workshop specialising in off-road suspension. Send us your lift height and suspension type and we will confirm the link length before you order.
Why they are worth it
- An inexpensive item that genuinely improves handling after a lift — and the one most often forgotten.
- The correct length instead of a sway bar working under preload.
- A rubber-booted joint: no servicing, no knocking, resistant to water and salt.
- Bolts into the factory locations in an hour, with no modification.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for a pair or a single link?
For a pair. The manufacturer confirmed it directly in answer to a customer's question.
Is this a sway bar disconnect kit?
No. These are extended links. The disconnect stays factory — electronic, at the button. If your JK has no electronic disconnect, the right kit at this lift is 7220 — the same 14.5in length, but with a manual quick release.
Which length should I choose?
14.5in for a 4.5in mid arm or 4.5in–5.5in long arm lift. 12.25in (part no. 7015) for a 2.5in–4.5in mid arm lift.
Are they adjustable?
No. The length is fixed at 14.5in. The adjustable ones are the heavy duty kits 7420 and 7421 (11in–12in).
How do they differ from the heavy duty version?
These have a rubber boot seal and a fixed length; the heavy duty version has a 1in × 1/4in DOM tube, spherical rod ends and adjustment. The heavy duty is shorter though (11in–12in), so at a 4.5in–5.5in long arm lift it is not an alternative.
Do they fit the rear axle?
No. The manufacturer makes separate rear kits — get in touch and we will select one.
Is any cutting or drilling required?
No. They bolt into the factory locations with no modification.
