A pair of 14.5in front sway bar quick disconnects for a JK without the electronic disconnect. Release without tools on a quick pin — and an extension bracket brings the release point somewhere you can reach without getting under the vehicle. 1/2in-13 steel, rubber boot seal, laser cut 3/16in brackets, grade 8 bolts, gold zinc. Bolts into factory locations, 1 hour. Choose by lift: 14.5in for 4.5in mid arm and 4.5in–5.5in long arm (for 2.5in–4.5in see part no. 7014). Price is for a pair.

MetalCloak Front Sway Bar Quick Disconnects, 14.5in, Jeep Wrangler JK, Pair

Disconnecting the sway bar before you head off-road is the simplest way to let the suspension give you its full articulation. On a JK without the electronic disconnect you do it by hand — and after a big lift you need longer links to do it, because the factory ones then work at the wrong angle.

This kit combines the two: a 14.5in length sized for a 4.5in–5.5in lift and a quick release on a pin. Plus something nobody else offers — an extension bracket that brings the release point somewhere you can actually reach it. Anyone who has tried to disconnect a sway bar on the trail, lying in the mud under the bumper, knows what that is worth.

1/2in-13 steel, a rubber boot seal on the joint, brackets in laser cut 3/16in plate, grade 8 zinc plated bolts. Bolts into the factory locations, 1 hour, no modification. The price is for a pair.

The full selection table — two questions and you have the answer

MetalCloak makes six front-axle solutions for the JK and it is easy to get lost in them. In practice two questions are enough.

Question 1: is there a "SWAY BAR" button on your dashboard? (on the JK that is Rubicon equipment)
Question 2: what lift do you have?

LIFTWITH BUTTON (electronic)NO BUTTON (manual)
2.5in–4.5in mid arm12.25in links (part no. 7015)
or heavy duty 11in–12in (7420)
12.25in disconnects (part no. 7014)
or heavy duty 11in–12in (7421)
4.5in mid arm
4.5in–5.5in long arm
14.5in links (part no. 7221)THIS KIT — 14.5in (7220)

We stock all six. The manufacturer confirmed this split directly, answering a customer with a 2.5in lift: "These are for our 4.5in and 5.5in Long Arm kits. On the Mid Arm kits (2.5in +) we use the 12.25in disconnects."

⚠ Note one thing: the heavy duty versions (7420 and 7421, with spherical rod ends) are 11in–12in and intended for 2.5in–4.5in lifts. At 4.5in–5.5in on long arms there is no heavy duty equivalent — this kit is then the right choice.

The extension bracket — that is the difference

The manufacturer lists it as a feature unique to its system: the bracket brings the attachment point somewhere easy to reach, so disconnecting and reconnecting the bar does not call for gymnastics under the vehicle.

It sounds like a detail, but it is exactly the difference that decides whether a customer actually disconnects the sway bar or gives up after two attempts and drives on with it connected.

  • Bar pin quick clips – release without tools.
  • Extension bracket – 3/16in (approx. 4.8 mm) laser cut, zinc plated steel.
  • Grade 8 bolts, zinc plated.
  • Rubber boot seal – protection from water, grit and salt; the factory-style solution, with nothing to service.

⚠ The ratings on the manufacturer's page — stated plainly

This product carries 67% from three reviews at the manufacturer, and we think it is worth explaining why rather than glossing over it.

One customer first wrote that a bracket broke on his first trip (2/5). Less than a year later the same customer updated the review to 5/5: after his workshop adjusted the setup, the kit has been faultless for over a year on a 4-link long arm vehicle. The third review contains no substance.

Our conclusion — a cautious one, since this is a single case: with this part the setup matters. A link fitted with the axles hanging, or at the wrong length, works under preload, and then loads end up where they should not. That is why we fit parts like this with the vehicle on its wheels and check the sway bar geometry afterwards. If you are fitting them yourself, do the same.

Who they are for

For lifted non-Rubicon JKs at 4.5in and above that genuinely go off-road. If you disconnect the bar a few times a season, the extension bracket pays for itself on the first trip.

Do not forget the rear axle. At a large lift the rear links become too short as well. Send us your configuration and we will put the set together.

Installation notes

The job is simple: unbolt the old links, bolt the brackets and the new disconnects into the same points. The manufacturer allows an hour and rates the difficulty as easy.

The vehicle should be on its wheels — fitting on a lift with the axles hanging leaves the sway bar under preload. Judging by the manufacturer's customers' experience, that is the single most important detail with this product.

Szekla4x4.pl is an authorised MetalCloak dealer with a workshop specialising in off-road suspension — we will fit and set them. Send us your lift height and suspension type and we will confirm the version before you order.

Why they are worth it

  • The right length for a 4.5in–5.5in lift and a quick release in one kit.
  • An extension bracket — no lying under the bumper to disconnect.
  • Quick pins: the bar comes off in a minute, without tools.
  • A rubber-booted joint — nothing to service, resistant to water and salt.

Frequently asked questions

Is the price for a pair or a single link?

For a pair. The manufacturer confirmed it directly in answer to a customer's question.

I have a 2.5in lift — do these fit?

No. The manufacturer answered this directly: for mid arm kits from 2.5in the right parts are the 12.25in disconnects (part no. 7014), which we also stock. These 14.5in ones are for 4.5in mid arm and 4.5in–5.5in long arm lifts.

I have a Rubicon with a SWAY BAR button — is this for me?

No. This kit is for vehicles without the electronic disconnect. On a Rubicon at a 4.5in–5.5in lift the right parts are the 14.5in links (part no. 7221).

Are they adjustable?

No. The length is fixed at 14.5in. The adjustable ones are the heavy duty kits 7420 and 7421, but they are 11in–12in and do not suit this lift range.

What is the extension bracket for?

It brings the release point somewhere easy to reach, so disconnecting the bar does not mean getting under the vehicle. The manufacturer presents it as unique to its system.

Does disconnecting need tools?

No. The pin comes out by hand.

Is any cutting or drilling required?

No. They bolt into the factory locations with no modification.
