Overline Rocker ExoSkin Steel Pair Jeep Wrangler JK 2-Door MetalCloak
MetalCloak Overline steel rocker ExoSkins for the 2-door Jeep Wrangler JK 2007-2018, black textured powder coat. 1/8in plate, laser cut and CAD formed — it stiffens the thin factory rocker and takes the hit itself. Works with or without rocker rails. Covers both sides.
MetalCloak Overline Rocker ExoSkins, Black Powder Coat, Jeep Wrangler JK 2-Door (pair)
On a Jeep, the rocker is the panel you only think about once — the time the vehicle slides sideways onto a rock. The factory metal there is thin, unbraced, and covered by a plastic trim strip that protects nothing.
The ExoSkin is 1/8in steel plate (3.2 mm), laser cut and CAD formed, bolted straight onto the factory rocker. Rather than covering the metal, it stiffens it and takes the hit itself.
The manufacturer does not dress it up: it is "that extra layer of protection" for "the otherwise thin sheet-wall of the JK".

VEHICLE Wrangler JK 2-door 2007–2018 | MATERIAL 1/8in cold rolled steel black textured powder coat | INSTALLATION 2–3 h, easy drilling required |
⚠ In the manufacturer's photos the ExoSkins are painted body colour — that is what one particular customer did. What we sell is the black textured powder coat version; shape and fitment are identical, only the colour differs.
⚠ This is the 2-door version only
The plate is cut to the rocker length of the 2-door JK. The 4-door has its own part number — 3316. We do not hold it in stock but we order it in: get in touch and we will quote a price and a lead time.
ExoSkin alone, or ExoSkin plus rocker rails?
This is the question worth settling, because the ExoSkin works either way — the manufacturer says so directly: "Can be used with or without MetalCloak Rocker Rails."
- ExoSkin alone – 1/8in plate on the rocker. It protects against scrapes, dents and stones thrown up by the tyres, and stiffens the body. A sensible choice for a vehicle that goes off road but does not lean on rocks.
- ExoSkin plus rocker rails – the rail takes the impact and the plate spreads the load across more of the body. That is MetalCloak's intended arrangement: "each piece improves on the strength of the next". The rails are a separate item which we can order in.
? The manufacturer also answered a question about combining it with the rest of its range: "Our Overline and Overland Rockers fit with all of our skid plates and suspension systems."

1/8in steel or aluminium?
MetalCloak makes JK rocker ExoSkins in two materials, and we stock both:
| version | material | what it suits |
| 3311 Overline ← this listing | 1/8in steel | strength, rock work, running with rocker rails |
| 3313 Overland | aluminium | less weight, the look, overland rather than rock use |
? The difference is simple: steel takes the hit, aluminium saves the weight. If the vehicle leans on rocks, take the steel. If it mostly runs gravel and you want the look and a few kilos less, aluminium.

Who it's for
For owners of 2-door JKs who go off road and know the rocker gets hit first — and repairing a dented Jeep rocker is bodywork, not a parts swap.
And for anyone building the vehicle around the Overline system: the fenders, flares and rear ExoSkins are in our range, and the rocker plates close out the side of the vehicle between the front and the rear.
100% from two reviews at the manufacturer — a small sample, so we say so plainly. One is from a workshop (The Jeep Shop Inc), writing about design, craftsmanship and quality and expecting to fit many more. The other makes a practical point: "I was pleased how well the rocker fit between the flares."
Installation notes
The manufacturer rates the install easy but allows 2–3 hours, and flags drilling — this is not an adhesive trim or a factory-point bolt-on. Holes in the rocker cannot be undone, so it is worth doing once and doing it properly: vehicle on its wheels, edges taped, step bit.
It is most convenient alongside fitting rocker rails or flares, when the side of the vehicle is apart anyway.
⚠ Planning to paint them body colour — as in the manufacturer's photos — note that it requires a test fit before painting and does not cover the cost of any custom finish applied. With the powder coated version we sell, that does not arise.
Szekla4x4.pl is an authorised MetalCloak dealer with a workshop specialising in Jeeps — we will fit the plates together with rails or armour in one visit.
Why they're worth it
- They protect the panel that gets hit most on a Jeep, and that is expensive to repair.
- They stiffen the thin rocker metal rather than just covering it.
- They work alone or as the base layer under rocker rails.
- Laser cut and formed for this specific body — no fitting work on the vehicle.
- Black textured powder coat — consistent with the rest of the MetalCloak armour.
Frequently asked questions
Will it fit a 4-door JK?
No. The 4-door has its own part number, 3316 — get in touch and we will order it.
Do I need MetalCloak rocker rails?
No. The manufacturer states that the plates work with rocker rails or without them. Together they do more, but on their own they still make sense.
Do I have to drill the rocker?
Yes. The mounting relies on drilled holes — the manufacturer lists it as required body modification. The holes cannot be undone.
How does it differ from the aluminium version (3313)?
Material and purpose. 1/8in steel takes the impact; aluminium is lighter and more overland-oriented. For rock work, take the steel.
Does it work with MetalCloak skid plates?
Yes. The manufacturer confirmed in its Q&A that the Overline and Overland rockers fit with all of its skid plates and suspension systems.
Can I paint them body colour?
You can — the manufacturer's own photos show exactly that. It does require a test fit before painting, and it does not cover paintwork costs if something needs adjusting.
What is the lead time?
The manufacturer quotes 2–3 weeks to ship from its end, plus transport to Poland. Get in touch and we will give you a current date.
