The ExoCorner solves it differently and deals with a second problem at the same time: it replaces the dim factory taillights with low-profile, high-visibility LEDs in machined aluminium housings, and the whole assembly becomes one reinforced corner.

? This is a complete kit, not just a light

The key thing about this product: the 1/8in steel ExoSkin plates for both rear corners are included. There is no need to buy them separately. The aluminium ExoCorner rail bolts to the plate and stiffens it — the manufacturer describes it as one system in which each piece reinforces the next.

Why the resistors matter — and they are not a detail

The factory JK wiring expects filament bulbs. Swap in LEDs and the current draw drops, so the vehicle reads it as a blown bulb: the indicator starts hyper-flashing and a warning appears on the dash.

The kit includes resistors that restore the standard flash rate and stop the warnings. They have finned aluminium heat sinks because they genuinely get hot in use. With cheaper LED kits this is something you have to remember for yourself.

⚠ Type approval — read this before ordering if the vehicle is road registered

This is a US-market product. The manufacturer publishes no European type-approval ("E" mark) information for these lights. In Poland, replacing the rear lights on a road-registered vehicle requires approved lamps, and the lack of that approval can be challenged at inspection or in a roadside check.

We are not settling the question — but we are not staying quiet about it either. If the vehicle is registered and used on public roads, get in touch before ordering: we will ask the manufacturer for documentation and tell you what we find. For a competition vehicle or one used purely off road the question does not arise.

Finish: black only

Unlike the rest of the ExoSkin family, this kit has no raw variant. The manufacturer states it plainly: steel in black textured powder coat, aluminium in Type III black anodising (mil-spec). Two different processes, one colour — and a more durable finish than paint, particularly on aluminium.

Installation notes

The manufacturer rates the install moderate, 1–2 hours, and flags two things at once: drilling into the body and work on the electrical system. This is not a bolt-into-factory-points kit.
