The metal behind the doors and the rear quarter on a JK is the thinnest skin on the vehicle. The manufacturer does not dress it up: "the weak body of the JK easily gets banged up or dented".
The Extended ExoSkin is a full corner plate in 1/8in steel (3.2 mm), bolted over the factory skin from the rear edge of the door all the way to the back of the quarter panel. It does not cover the metal — it plates and stiffens it, without extensive body modification.

? Which rear corner plate? That is the whole decision here
MetalCloak makes three different rear corner plates for the JK, and the commonest mistake is buying the wrong one. The manufacturer settles it itself, in two places:
- on this page: "The rear extended Exo-Skins are not a mounting system for the overline rear flares";
- in the Overline page Q&A: "The ExoSkins are designed for our high clearance fender flares… for factory fenders, or the Overland rear flares, use Product ID 3415".

The template is steel, not paper
This is what actually decides how the job turns out. The kit includes a full size template made from 1/20in steel (about 1.3 mm) — rigid, screwed to the body, marking every point. With several dozen holes going into a rear quarter, that is the difference between a procedure and a risk.
What you can add
The manufacturer designs this plate as the base for the ExoCorner LED taillight kit: an aluminium bar bolts to the plate and reinforces it, and low-profile LEDs replace the factory lights. We stock both versions — 3430 (machined aluminium housings) and 3431 (ASA housings, with side markers and reverse lights). The ExoCorner kit is a separate item.

Who it's for
For JK owners not moving to the Overline system who still want the rear corner protected. It is the most universal of the three plates — it works with factory flares and with most aftermarket ones.

Installation notes
The manufacturer rates it moderate, 2–3 hours, with drilling. Holes in a rear quarter cannot be undone — it is worth doing once and doing it properly: vehicle on its wheels, edges taped, template screwed down solid, step bit. Worth having your own spare riv-nuts.
⚠ For custom paint the manufacturer requires a test fit before painting and does not cover the cost of any finish applied. With the powder coated version that does not arise.

Frequently asked questions
Can Overline flares be bolted to this?
No. The manufacturer states it plainly: this plate is not a mounting system for Overline flares. That is what 3410 is for, which we also stock.
Does it fit the 2-door JK?
No. That body has its own part number, 3414, also in our range.
Does it work with factory flares?
Yes — this is the version intended for them. The manufacturer also lists Overland and Hardline flares and "most aftermarket fenders".
Is the template reusable?
It is 1/20in steel, so physically yes. One set is included.
What is the lead time?
3–5 weeks at the manufacturer plus transport to Poland.
