On a 4-door JK the rocker runs the length of two doors, and along all of it that is the thinnest metal on the vehicle. The factory rocker trim is plastic and protects nothing.
This version of the ExoSkin is 1/8in aluminium plate (3.2 mm), laser cut and CAD formed. It weighs around 7 kg instead of 18 — and that is the whole difference from the steel version.

? The key difference is not the material, it is the system. The aluminium version is universal — the manufacturer states plainly that it works with factory fenders and most aftermarket ones. The Overline steel version is part of MetalCloak's own system.
Take aluminium for a daily-driven, overland vehicle on factory flares where weight and looks matter. Take steel for a vehicle that genuinely leans its side onto rock.
The plate is the base layer — what goes on top
The manufacturer designs this part as the base for two more: the rocker base (3317) and the Flip Steps (3327). Both are separate items. But the ExoSkin also works on its own — the manufacturer says it can be used "with or without MetalCloak's rocker base and flip steps".

Installation notes
The manufacturer rates it moderate, 1–2 hours, with drilling — an hour less than the steel version. Holes in the rocker cannot be undone: vehicle on its wheels, edges taped, step bit. Worth having your own spare riv-nuts.

No. The 2-door part is 3313, which we also stock.
Do I have to add the rocker base or the steps?
No. The manufacturer states the ExoSkin works with or without them. The base (3317) and Flip Step (3327) are separate items.
Will aluminium survive rock work?
For genuinely leaning the side onto rock, the steel version (3316) or rocker rails are the better answer. Aluminium protects against scrapes and stones but deforms more easily.
What is the lead time?
