The Flip Step settles an argument most owners of a lifted Jeep have at home: somebody needs a step to get in, and somebody else does not want anything hanging low on the trail.
This step mounts in several configurations: as a comfortable high-clearance step, or as a low-slung rub rail that deflects obstacles. It is repositioned with bolts, without touching the base.

? A hard requirement: it needs the MetalCloak rocker base
The manufacturer says it three times on its own page: "You MUST have MetalCloak JK or JL Wrangler overland rocker base" and "The step only mounts onto the MetalCloak overland rocker base."
On its own the step has nothing to bolt to. The base you need is 3312 — we stock it. That is also where the ten-minute install comes from: all the drilling belongs to the base.
Two configurations, one part
- Step position — higher, easy to climb in, clearance preserved.
- Rub rail position — lower, deflecting obstacles off road. The manufacturer states that in the down position the step sits about 6in (15 cm) below the door sill.
? One customer put it most simply: "I finalized my decision on these because my lady is short and wanted a step but did not want them hanging low on the trail. They are functional on the road and out on the rocks."

Installation notes
Ten minutes and spanners — provided the rocker base is already on the vehicle. All the hard work belongs to the base (2–4 hours with drilling).
