The factory JK taillight lenses are plain plastic that cracks from one branch or one reverse into a rock. These shields fit over the existing lights and take the hit instead.
Material: 14GA hot rolled steel (about 1.9 mm) — not film, not plastic, but sheet that will actually stop something.
Light visibility
The cutout is the “M" logo and is designed not to sacrifice light visibility — the manufacturer states this explicitly. At night the illuminated “M" reads clearly.
⚠ To be straight about it: any cover over a lamp reduces its lit area. The manufacturer publishes no European approval mark for this part. If your Jeep is registered and driven on public roads, bear that in mind at the periodic inspection. Contact us if you are unsure.

⚠ Factory lights only
The manufacturer is explicit: “The Signal Shield Rear Light Covers are designed for the factory tail lights only." They do not fit the MetalCloak LED lights (MC3432 / MC3435) or any other replacement.
⚠ Not for the JL
Asked by a customer about a 2019 JL Wrangler, the manufacturer replied: “These brake light covers are for the JK Wrangler model and will not fit the updated and redesigned JL Wrangler tail-lights."
