This bracket is what connects the spare wheel to a MetalCloak tire carrier. Its job is to match the wheel's position to your wheel's backspacing — how deep the mounting face sits relative to the back edge of the rim.
This version covers 3.75in–5.25in.

The manufacturer states it plainly: “The SportGate Tire Carrier or MetalCloak's Swing Out Tire Carrier is required to use this tire mount."
This is not a stand-alone tailgate mount. In our range the matching carriers are MC3956 (SportGate) and MC3970 (tub-mount carrier).
How to measure backspacing
Lay the wheel face down on a flat surface, put a straight edge across the back, and measure from the straight edge to the wheel's mounting face (the one with the bolt holes). That is the backspacing.
If it lands in 3.75in–5.25in, this is the right version. If it lands in 4,75″–6,45″ / 4.75in–6.45in, you need the MC3953 version, which we also stock.

No. A MetalCloak tire carrier is required.

Only in backspacing range: this one covers 3.75in–5.25in, that one 4,75″–6,45″ / 4.75in–6.45in. Construction and material are identical.
Will it fit my bolt pattern?
The bracket carries multiple stud configurations for the most common patterns. If your wheels are unusual, contact us before ordering.
