MetalCloak — aluminium fixed fairlead, Jeep Wrangler JK / JL and Gladiator JT
The fairlead is where the winch line leaves the bumper. With synthetic rope it has one job: to guide the line without snagging or abrading it. Dyneema rope does not tolerate sharp edges — a few seasons rubbing on a poorly finished fairlead can weaken it somewhere you cannot see.
This fairlead is machined from T6 aircraft-grade aluminium and finished in Type III Mil Spec hard anodizing — an abrasion-resistant coating that does not fade.
The essentials
- Synthetic line only — the manufacturer states this plainly. It is not for steel cable; steel needs a roller fairlead (our bracket MC3123)
- For centre-spool winches — aligned to the middle of the drum
- Smooth, solid surface — the line spools in and out without snagging
- Type III hard coat anodizing — maximum abrasion resistance, no fading
- Designed for the Frame-Built bumper, hardware included
⚠ This is a modular part of the MetalCloak bumper system — it mounts to the Frame-Built Combo base (JK: MC3160, which we stock; also JL and JT).
⚠ Note the system update date
On this product the manufacturer quotes a different date from the other bumper parts: “As of May 2023 MetalCloak Updated the JK Wrangler Frame-Built Bumper System. If you purchased your bumper prior to this date, these products may not be compatible."
Most other parts refer to May 2014. We quote both dates as the manufacturer does — if you have an older MetalCloak bumper, contact us before ordering and we will confirm compatibility.

FAQ
I run steel cable — can I use it?
No. The manufacturer permits synthetic rope only. Steel cable needs a roller fairlead.
