Dual rate chrome steel coils. Motor specific. 4 reviews averaging 100%.

MetalCloak is an American manufacturer based in California that has been designing and building off-road components exclusively for Jeeps for over two decades. Every part is CAD-engineered, laser cut, welded and finished in-house, and the company backs its structure and coating with a lifetime warranty.

True Dual Rate Coils, Front, Pair - 4.5" (JL 4-Door) / 5.5" (JL 2-Door) / 3.5" (JT) Lift

True Dual Rate coils are the foundation of every MetalCloak lift. Unlike common progressive springs they have two distinct rates: a soft one for ride quality over small inputs, and a firmer one for load and large compressions.

The manufacturer stresses its coils are extra long in free length, so they stay seated even at extreme articulation. In practice the coil does not fall out when a wheel drops away - a problem familiar from cheaper kits.

Specification

  • Material: high tensile chrome steel
  • Finish: black powder coat
  • Coil isolators: thermoset elastomer
  • Lower front coil isolator correction pads: Shore 90A polyurethane
  • Lift: 4.5" (JL 4-Door) / 5.5" (JL 2-Door) / 3.5" (JT)
  • Fitment: Jeep JL Wrangler 2018+, JT Gladiator 2019+

Motor-specific version - important when ordering

Front coils are matched to the specific engine, because front axle mass differs between variants. The manufacturer distinguishes: JL with eTorque and JT 3.6, JL without eTorque, JL/JT Diesel and 4xe, and JT Mojave. Please state your model year and engine when ordering - our price is for the base variant and other engine versions differ in price.

Manufacturer's important notes

  • They work best as part of a system. The manufacturer notes True Dual Rate coils are engineered to perform best with Duroflex control arms and 6Pak or RockSport shocks. Fitted alone with factory arms they will not show their full potential.
  • Do not powder coat. The manufacturer advises against powder coating the coils - the baking process can change the metallurgical properties of the steel and cost the coil its lift properties.

After installation: the manufacturer recommends a suspension specialist aligns the vehicle after any work on the suspension or steering.

Installation

Coil replacement is workshop work. An alignment is required afterwards.

Homologation: this product carries no European type approval. Road legality after installation is decided by the vehicle inspection station; check before buying if in doubt.
