Bolt-On Rear Shock Mount Kit - Jeep TJ/LJ Wrangler

The bolt-on version of the same brackets - for owners who do not want to weld on the rear axle. It lowers the shock mount so a longer shock can be used after a lift.

Gold Zinc finish

Steel parts are gold zinc plated. Zinc protects the steel electrochemically even where it is scratched, and the surface stays paintable. On a twenty-year-old Jeep that matters more than on a new one.

"Too narrow for 2 different pairs of shocks. Spent way too much time trying to bend the bracket and breaking tools to make it fit. Doesn't need to be this narrow." - 2/5

"These bolt in easily. You have to drill out the top hole for the second bolt, which is easy enough. However the brackets were too narrow to fit a set of Bilstein shocks. I had to grind down the shock sleeve in the bushing to make them fit." - 3/5

"Did not fit. The preexisting holes do not line up. One fits better than the other leading me to believe the brackets are warped." - 1/5

Our take: the clevis width is designed around MetalCloak shock bushings. With other brands (Bilstein, Fox, Rancho) expect to grind the sleeve or spread the bracket. If you plan on another brand, contact us before ordering and we will check the dimensions.

Installation

Easy. 1-2 hours. One hole needs drilling out.

A note on vehicle age

TJs and LJs are now twenty to nearly thirty years old. Expect seized bolts and corroded frame threads when removing factory parts - soak the joints in penetrant beforehand and use anti-seize on reassembly. Several reviews of TJ parts are really about this rather than about the part.
