Fender Flares and Extensions

MetalCloak is an American manufacturer based in California that has been designing and building off-road components exclusively for Jeeps for over two decades. Every part is CAD-engineered, laser cut, welded and finished in-house, and the company backs its structure and coating with a lifetime warranty.
Rear Flare 1 1/2", Pair - Jeep TJ/LJ/YJ/CJ
The 1 1/2" rear rub rail - the narrowest option, protecting the fender edge without adding width.
How the MetalCloak flare system works
These are not simple overlays on the factory fenders. MetalCloak built a whole system: tube fenders replace the factory sheet metal and form the load-bearing structure, and onto them go interchangeable flares in 1 1/2", 4", 6" or 8" widths on quick-release mounts. A flare comes off in minutes - before an event, after damage, or when you want a different width for different tires.
Two geometries: Arched follows the tire (the classic look), Overline is flat and raised - more clearance over the tire and a better approach angle. Flares from one family do not fit fenders from the other.
Black Textured Powder Coat
The powder coated version carries MetalCloak's signature micro-textured semi-gloss finish. It resists stone chipping and local trail damage can be touched up without refinishing the whole part.

Important - you must choose a mounting method
The manufacturer notes that first-time buyers of rear flares must also choose how to mount them. There are three routes:
- Corner guards (2432, 2435, 2438, 2440, 2439, 2460) - steel rear corner armour that doubles as the flare base. The strongest option.
- Mounting base plates (2410, 2411, 2415) - a lighter, cheaper base without corner protection.
- A generic adapter for other manufacturers' corner guards.
Contact us if you are unsure - the difference affects both price and whether the body is protected.
Cut type: the base plates come in stock cut and mod cut versions. Match the version to your body.
Before painting: the manufacturer requires a test fit on the vehicle before any custom paint or powder coating. Painted parts cannot be returned.
Homologation: this product carries no European type approval. Road legality after installation is decided by the vehicle inspection station; check before buying if in doubt.
Installation
Easy. The manufacturer quotes 10 minutes for the flare itself - fitting the base takes longer, depending on the option chosen.
A note on vehicle age
TJs and LJs are now twenty to nearly thirty years old. Expect seized bolts and corroded frame threads when removing factory parts - soak the joints in penetrant beforehand and use anti-seize on reassembly. Several reviews of TJ parts are really about this rather than about the part.
