Oil Pan Skid Plate for the 4.0L - Jeep TJ/LJ Wrangler

The 4.0 oil pan on a TJ hangs low and is one of the first things to take a hit on a rock ledge. A punctured pan means a seized engine within minutes - which is why this is one of the most bought skid plates for the model.

Gold Zinc finish

Steel parts are gold zinc plated. Zinc protects the steel electrochemically even where it is scratched, and the surface stays paintable. On a twenty-year-old Jeep that matters more than on a new one.

Our take: the manufacturer itself notes that on early TJ models you may need to loosen the exhaust for installation clearance. On vehicles with an aftermarket exhaust the work can be greater. If your TJ has a modified exhaust, contact us before ordering.

A note on vehicle age

TJs and LJs are now twenty to nearly thirty years old. Expect seized bolts and corroded frame threads when removing factory parts - soak the joints in penetrant beforehand and use anti-seize on reassembly. Several reviews of TJ parts are really about this rather than about the part.
