A powered step solves the problem of climbing into a lifted vehicle - but only in daylight. After dark the step swings out into the black and passengers still feel for it with a foot. This kit is the simplest possible answer: two LED strips that light the step and the ground beside the vehicle.

The whole thing plugs into the harness already in the sliders, so the light comes on with the step. No separate switch, no power to run through the body, no drilling.

Who it is for

For anyone who already runs Rock Slide step sliders or is ordering them now. It costs a few per cent of the sliders themselves and changes how useful they are after dark. Best ordered together with the sliders and fitted at the same workshop visit - with the slider off the vehicle the bonding area is far easier to reach.

Installation and notes

This is not a stand-alone light. The kit works only with Rock Slide Engineering power step sliders, because it draws power from them. Without those sliders there is nothing to plug it into.

Surface preparation. Mounting relies on adhesive, so how long it holds depends on degreasing and on the temperature during bonding. Bonding in the cold on a vehicle that then runs in road salt is the usual reason parts like this let go - worth doing in a heated workshop.

What the manufacturer does not state. The product page gives no LED count, no voltage, no current draw and no IP rating. If you need those figures, get in touch and we will ask the distributor.

Regulations. The manufacturer gives no information on European type approval for this lighting. Additional lights on a vehicle used on public roads are regulated - worth confirming permitted use before fitting.

No. The strands plug into the Rock Slide Engineering step slider harness and draw power from it. Without those sliders there is nothing to connect them to.
