On the Navara the fuel tank sits about as badly as it can — well behind the axle, low, covered from underneath by nothing more than a thin plastic tray. Drop off the hard edge of a rut and the tank is the first thing to find it.

4.0 mm aluminium. Rival specifies aluminium at 4.0 mm thickness in a silver finish. At this gauge aluminium is noticeably lighter than the steel equivalent, and because a tank plate hangs a long way from the centre of the truck, that saved weight shows up both in how the pickup behaves and in how much payload you have left.

Installation. A model-specific fitting kit is supplied and the plate uses the prepared points under the body. No drilling into the chassis, no welding.

This is usually the last plate people add once the front end is already covered. It earns its place as soon as you travel beyond the end of the forest track, because a holed tank is not something you fix on the trail.
