The Prado 150 and its twin, the Lexus GX 460, get driven well past the end of the tarmac, yet the sump and the gear under the engine are shielded mostly by a plastic tray. One rock on a forest track, or one frozen rut, is enough to turn that into an expensive repair.
This Rival plate covers the engine area with 4.0 mm aluminium. Aluminium suits this position because it does not pile weight onto the front axle, while still absorbing an impact and spreading it across the plate instead of passing it straight into the component.
