Rival 6.0 mm aluminium engine and gearbox skid plate for the VW Transporter, Caravelle and Multivan T5 and T6. One pressed panel for both, fitting kit included.
A Transporter rarely runs empty, and the more it weighs the lower it sits — which makes it easy to catch on something it cleared without trouble the day before. This Rival plate covers the engine and gearbox of T5 and T6 vans with a single panel.
6.0 mm aluminium. Rival specifies a pressed aluminium panel, 6.0 mm thick, silver finish. On a heavy van what matters is that the plate does not deflect under load when it meets an obstacle — while aluminium avoids adding the mass that steel would.
Installation. The plate uses the factory mounting points and comes with a fitting kit.
Fitment. Volkswagen Caravelle, Multivan and Transporter in T5 and T6 generations, model years from 2003 to 2019 and from 2020, with the 2.0 l diesel. The catalogue name lists the ranges 2003-2009, 2009-2015, 2015-2019 and 2019-2024 (Transporter to 2022).
It earns its place on camper conversions and expedition-built vans, where leaving the tarmac for a forest track or beach sand is part of the plan rather than a mishap.
