The fuel tank on the Land Cruiser 300 is a broad flat surface spanning the underbody — exactly the shape that finds a rock first when you back down a bank. Factory protection in that area is token at best.

6.0 mm aluminium, two-piece. Rival specifies 6.0 mm pressed aluminium sheet in silver, and the plate is supplied in two sections. Splitting it makes practical sense: each piece is easier to manoeuvre into place, and you can drop only the section you need access behind rather than the whole assembly.

Installation. A fitting kit is supplied and the plate uses factory mounting points. With a two-piece assembly of this size a lift or a second pair of hands helps.

Fitment. Toyota Land Cruiser 300 from 2021, 3.5 l and 4.0 l petrol versions.

You will notice this one on longer trips with a full tank and a loaded vehicle — which is precisely when ground clearance is at its worst.
