Four plates bought together do something none of them does alone: they turn the front of the Pajero underbody into one continuous surface the car slides across instead of hanging up on.

What is in the set. Radiator, engine, gearbox and transfer case plates — four pieces.

Aluminium. Rival specifies aluminium with a silver finish. Aluminium plates weigh noticeably less than steel of comparable area, which with a four-piece set means a much smaller weight gain under the car.

Installation. A fitting kit is supplied and every plate mounts to factory chassis points. No drilling or welding — but four plates are still a few hours of work, so plan the time or book a workshop.

Fitment. Mitsubishi Pajero IV 2006-2011, 2011-2014 and 2014-2022 with 3.0 l, 3.2 l and 3.8 l petrol and 3.2 l diesel engines. Rival's technical description confirms three- and five-door bodies from 2007 onwards, and covers the Montero IV and Shogun IV badged equivalents.
