Rival tailgate assist kit for the Mercedes-Benz X-Class, 2017-2020. 4.0 mm steel brackets and a complete fitting kit — the gate drops slower and closes easier.
The X-Class set out to be a pickup that looks and drives like a passenger car, and largely pulled it off. The tailgate, though, stayed exactly like every other pickup's: heavy, free-falling and needing a proper swing to close.
What the kit adds. The strut damps the drop and assists the lift. Instead of a bang and a jolt you get controlled movement, and the hinge and seal work under gentler conditions.
Build. Steel brackets, 4.0 mm thick — built to work under load every time the bed is opened.
Installation. A complete fitting kit is supplied. It mounts around the tailgate hinge without touching the latch.
