The Ranger's tailgate is heavy and can pull itself out of your hand on the way down — especially with gloves on or wet palms. The factory torsion bar takes some of that out, but it will not hold the gate halfway and it does nothing to help you close it.

What the kit adds. The strut damps the drop and supports the gate on the way back up, so closing it no longer means heaving the whole weight in one go. Less strain on the hinges, fewer knocks against the rear bumper.

Build. Steel brackets, 4.0 mm thick, carrying the load into the bed structure rather than into the outer skin.

Installation. A complete fitting kit is included — no separate hardware or brackets to source.
