The Amarok has one of the wider beds in its class and, with it, one of the heavier tailgates. Let go and it drops with a bang; close it and you are reminded just how much steel is there. The Rival strut kit takes that work on itself.
What it does. The gate comes down at a controlled rate and lifts back up with noticeably less effort. Less load on the hinges, less noise every time the bed is opened.
Build. Steel, 4.0 mm thick.
Installation. A complete fitting kit is supplied.
Fitment. Volkswagen Amarok, model years 2013-2016 and 2016 onwards per Rival's technical description; the catalogue name gives a wider 2010-2016 and 2016-2020.
