If you load the bed on your own, the D-Max tailgate reminds you twice a day how much it weighs. It drops with force and closing it takes a full swing — and if your other hand is holding something, it becomes a small workout.
What the kit changes. The assist takes part of the gate's weight: it damps the drop and helps on the way up. The motion becomes smooth, and hinges and seal stop absorbing a shock on every opening.
Build. Rival specifies steel, 4.0 mm thick. This part works under load and in dirt, so the material has a job to do.
Installation. A complete fitting kit is supplied.
