A first-generation Grand Vitara will happily go further than its headlights reach. On a forestry track or a field descent the beam runs out roughly where the interesting part begins. A light bar above the bumper solves that, but it changes the shape of the front end and collects every low branch.

This kit puts the lights inside instead. Two Kramp LA10811 lamps sit inside the original radiator grille on dedicated brackets shaped to the factory grille — no external mounts, no extra structure above the bumper.

How much light

Each lamp runs at 60 W and 5,040 lm, so the pair gives 120 W and 10,080 lm. The Combo beam mixes a wide spread close to the car with a longer spot throw, which off road means seeing both the rut under the wheel and what is waiting further ahead. Three lighting modes are available, plus an E-BOOST function with memory of the last mode used, so the lamps come back on exactly as you left them.

How it is built

The lamps use an aluminium housing with a polycarbonate lens, rated IP68 and IP69K — the second rating covers high-pressure washing, which matters the first time the car goes through a jet wash after a muddy weekend. A single lamp measures 204 × 70 × 67 mm and uses a Deutsch DT4P 4-pin connector on a 0.9 m four-core lead. Rated life is quoted at a minimum of 30,000 hours.

The brackets are 3D printed in a black material resistant to UV and elevated temperature — chosen for what actually happens behind a grille in summer and after years in the sun.

Fitting — read this first

Installation requires cutting away selected parts of the original radiator grille. That change cannot be undone on the grille, so the position of the lamps and brackets has to be set out and test-fitted before any cutting starts. The brackets themselves go in with the supplied bolts.

The lamp manufacturer declares ECE R10 approval only, covering electromagnetic compatibility, along with CE, UKCA, RCM and RoHS markings.
