More and more Transit Mk8s finish the day on gravel by a treeline or on an unsurfaced yard rather than outside a block of flats. That is where you notice the headlights were aimed at tarmac: you can see the road, but not its edge, not the rut you are about to drop into, and not what is standing fifty metres further on.

This kit adds two slim LED lamps straight into the original radiator grille, on brackets designed and manufactured by ORAX Systems for this exact grille. Nothing protrudes above the line of the front end and there is no bar or external mount to fit.

OSRAM Lightbar VX180-SP SR lamps

Each lamp (product code LEDDL122-SP SR) runs at 19 W and produces 1,400 lm, so the pair gives 38 W and 2,800 lm. What matters more than the raw figure is how it is thrown: the beam reaches 320 m at 1 lx, so the light works well ahead of the vehicle. A colour temperature of 6000 K gives a bright, white output.

The body is compact and single-row — 192 × 67 × 35 mm, 550 g per lamp — which is what makes it sit properly in the narrow grille opening of a Transit. Sealing is rated IP6K8 and IP6K9K, service life is quoted at over 5,000 hours, and the lamp uses an open-wire lead. The lamp manufacturer declares ECE R10 and ECE R149 approvals, approval mark E9 and ECE reference number 25.

The mounts are 3D printed in black material resistant to UV and elevated temperature — a grille delivers plenty of both. Fitment covers the Ford Transit Mk8 / V363, 2014–2019, and a full set of mounting bolts is included.

Fitting — read this first

Installation requires cutting away selected parts of the original radiator grille. That is what allows the lamps to seat correctly. Test-fit the lamps together with the brackets and mark what needs to come out before cutting — the change cannot be reversed.
