ARB Intrepid 2.5 roof top tent

A hard-shell tent solves the problem of pitching camp in the dark, but you usually pay for it in height and fuel on the highway. The Intrepid 2.5 folds down to 18 cm – about the same as a substantial roof rack.

Its bi-fold roof still gives 36% more living space than a conventional hard-shell tent. Setting up takes a minute, because two gas struts do the work for you.

How long does set-up really take?

About a minute. The gas struts lift the roof themselves – you release the latches and it opens.

Is 180 mm the height including the bars?

No, that is the tent alone when closed. Add the bars or platform for total vehicle height.

Can I leave bedding inside?

The hard-shell clamshell design allows it – that is one of the main advantages over a fold-out tent.

Will my roof take 75 kg?

A vehicle's dynamic roof rating (while driving) is usually much lower than the static one. Check the dynamic figure in your owner's manual against the tent plus bars. We can help with the sums.

Can I add an awning or a solar panel?

Yes – the triple T-slot profiles around the perimeter exist for exactly that.
