Old Man Emu PB010R rear parabolic leaf spring rated at 1000 kg for the Toyota LandCruiser 79 and 78. Despite that capacity the parabolic pack stays lighter than an equivalent multi-leaf one. The manufacturer provides for it to be fitted together with the OMEAB003 air bag kit.
An Old Man Emu parabolic leaf spring for the LandCruiser 79 and 78 changes the character of the rear end, because it removes the spring's second stage and rethinks the whole design. Instead of a pack of many leaves working against each other you get a few leaves of a higher grade steel with a parabolic section. The effect is twofold: the vehicle rides differently – especially with an empty tray, where the factory pack simply hammers – and the pack itself is one of the lightest on the market, which shows during fitting and in the kerb weight.

Pick the option closest to the permanent, everyday load of the vehicle. You do not choose a spring for the maximum load that happens once a season – variable weight is what the air bags are for. A correctly chosen spring holds ride height, control and comfort in daily use instead of running on the bump stops.
Parabolic leaf springs are fitted together with the dedicated air bag kit. For the PB007R–PB010R series the matching kit is OMEAB003. The air bags allow up to 600 kg of variable weight to be added (300 kg per bag) with pressure adjustable from 0 to 45 psi. The chassis carries most of the load through the spring hangers, while variable load is taken by the bags and their brackets.
This part number does not appear in the Old Man Emu suspension application chart available to us – for the 70-series LandCruiser the current chart lists different parabolic spring numbers. Replacing the leaf springs on a LandCruiser 79 or 78 is workshop work: vehicle on a hoist, axle supported, the old pack released from the shackles. It is worth replacing the shackles with the greasable OME OMEGS19 version at the same time – with a new, lighter pack the old bushes will be audible from the first trip. After fitting, check the alignment, brake line clearance and the load-sensing valve setting.

The manufacturer provides parabolic springs together with a dedicated air bag kit. For this series it is OMEAB003 – the bags take the variable load that a parabolic pack does not handle on its own.
