ARB steel underbody protection set - Isuzu D-Max from 2021
A complete ARB steel underbody protection set for the Isuzu D-Max from 2021. It covers four panels: the engine and steering guard, the sump and front differential guard, the gearbox guard and the transfer case guard. Pressed and folded 3 mm steel, laser cut, galvanised and powder coated in silver. The complete set with hardware weighs about 46 kg, and the estimated fitting time is around one hour.
ARB steel underbody protection set - Isuzu D-Max from 2021
There are a few things under a four-wheel drive that cannot be fixed at the roadside: the sump, the steering, the gearbox housing and the transfer case. Factory guards are usually thin sheet or plastic, designed for stones off the road rather than for a rock you drive onto with the full weight of the vehicle. ARB steel skid plates turn the most vulnerable part of the vehicle into a surface you can slide across instead of stopping on.
Panels four | Thickness 3 mm | Set weight about 46 kg |
Key features
- A set of panels protecting the key chassis components, not a single plate under the engine
- Pressed and folded 3 mm steel sheet – stronger than typical flat-plate designs
- Laser cutting – precise alignment with the vehicle's mounting points
- Steel parts protected by powder coating or galvanising
- Protected mounting points with easy access when the vehicle is serviced
- Mounts in the factory points – no drilling in the chassis
- Galvanised and powder coated in a silver finish
- Compatible with ARB Recovery Point mounts (part numbers 2848030 and 2848040)
- Illustrated fitting instructions included
- Estimated fitting time: around 1 hour
Fitment
The set is for the Isuzu D-Max from 2021.
What the set covers
- Front engine guard panel – protects the engine, steering components and sway bar (9 kg)
- Differential and sump guard panel – protects the front differential and its mounts, and the rear of the engine cover, with access for draining the engine oil (9.5 kg)
- Gearbox guard panel (15.5 kg)
- Transfer case guard panel – mounted using the factory-fitted transfer case bracket (7.5 kg), together with its mounting arm (4 kg)
The set is compatible with ARB Recovery Point mounts, part numbers 2848030 and 2848040, so there is no need to choose between the guards and recovery points.

Installation notes
The guards mount in the factory mounting holes, so nothing has to be drilled in the chassis. This is work on a hoist and usually for two people – steel panels are heavy and you hold them above your head. For complete sets, allow an hour to two depending on the vehicle.
Two things to check after fitting: that the oil drain plug and the filters are still accessible, and that the guard does not cover the jacking points. Keep the weight in mind too – a complete steel set is several tens of kilograms added under the front of the vehicle, and you will feel it in the front springs.

Frequently asked questions
Does fitting require drilling?
No. ARB guards mount in the vehicle's factory mounting holes.
Will the guard make oil changes harder?
It should not – ARB panels provide access to the drain plug, and the mounting points are designed so they can be undone for servicing. If in doubt we will check it for the specific part number.
How much does it weigh?
It depends on the vehicle and how many panels the set covers – for complete sets, several tens of kilograms. Where the manufacturer states a weight for the part number, you will find it in the technical data above.
Does the suspension need attention afterwards?
A complete steel set adds weight under the front of the vehicle. If you already have a steel bar and a winch, it is worth checking the front springs at the same time – we are happy to help match them.
Why buy it
- Four panels instead of one plate – the whole run from engine to transfer case is covered
- Pressed and folded steel rather than flat – stiffer at the same thickness
- Galvanising plus a powder coat – this is a part that lives in salt and mud
- Compatible with ARB Recovery Points – no need to choose
- The manufacturer states the weight of each panel, so you know what is going on the front end
Building a D-Max for harder terrain? We will match the guards, the ARB recovery points and front springs for the added weight – and do the fitting in our own workshop.
